Hello SDN!

I was curious if anyone knew if Ohio State requires ochem labs? Preferably if someone that goes to the dental school or is an accepted student (someone that knows for sure) could answer this, that would be great!
Here is what the requirements say online:

Ohio State Required Course Numbers
Anatomy 2300 or 3300 or EEOB 2510
Physiology 3200 or EEOB 2520
Biochemistry 4511
Biology 1113 & 1114
*Chemistry 1210 & 1220
*Organic Chemistry 2510 & 2520
English/Comp 1110.01
Second Writing Course
Microbiology 4000
Physics 1200
*Labs: If a lab is required as part of the specific course number, then the lab IS required. If the lab is listed as a separate course number, it is NOT required.

At my school the lecture and the lab are separate courses... But, I will be a senior next year and still have not been able to get into the lab due to lack of spots. And the times don't really match my schedule... I may be able to take ochem 1 lab over the summer, though.

Hmm not entirely sure and even checked their requirements online. It doesn't specify beyond what you stated but the best thing to do imo is email Jill @ [email protected]. Introduce yourself and explain your situation she is a really kind and helpful person, good luck!

I hate to bother the admissions office with information they probably think is clear on their site (even though it is not clear)... that would not look good probably.
Does anyone else know about the ochem lab requirements at OSU for sure?

On their website I found this:
"Admission to the College of Dentistry requires a solid science foundation. As a result, the undergraduate course of study at Ohio State should include the following courses:

  • Biology 1113, 1114
  • Microbiology 4000
  • Anatomy 2300 or 3300 or Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology 2510, 2520
  • Chemistry 1210, 1220
  • Biochemistry 4511
  • Organic Chemistry 2510, 2520 (lab required unless lab is taught as separate course)
  • Physics 1200
  • English 1110 and any second-year writing course
  • Physiology 3200 or Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology 2510, 2520 (if anatomy and physiology combination course is taken, students must complete both semesters to meet this prerequisite)"
but honestly I think you should send them an email. It is not a bad thing to be clear on requirements, and it will put your mind at ease
