Maybe we should all have a SDN Pre-Pharmacy Off-Topic Thread get together sometime.

Of course, since I'm supposed to be anon, I'll be the one with a bag over my head speaking through one of these

LMAO Seriously... that is why I would never post an identifiable picture on here... I'd be waiting for the day when I was on campus at Nova or anywhere else, possibly for an interview or something, and someone recognizes me... I think that's kinda awkward unless you plan it obviously.

That's the big reason I'm as cautious as I am. I know admissions offices of schools I have applied to visit my blog. After I'm accepted somewhere, maybe I'll loosen up some. I'm trying to avoid that as much as I can though.

If you guys read the lounge, I still have/had in the past a good portion of the loungers on my FB - Bob, try to figure out who's who.

We could just show up with sunglasses and hats so that we only know each other's voices and what we look like with sunglasses and hats on.

Why would it be awkward?

It's awkward because the other person might say, "hey I know you from SDN" and it's like saying "I know you without even meeting you before" and to everyone else it's not normal, so they will kinda judge her, and she will feel embarrassed by it.

I think one reason it would be awkward is because of what Phathead said...

I don't say anything I am embarrassed or ashamed of, so I really have nothing to hide, but because neither of us are actually admitted to a school yet (unless you are Phathead?) I personally don't want anyone reading my posts and hating me just because of something they took the wrong way or anything like that.

I know it sounds paranoid and far fetched, but I am very cautious person... I was raised that way, and I think it's served me well so far. I would have no problem discussing my true beliefs and showing my true personality to an adcom, but I think the internet and written words in general leave a lot of be desired about knowing how a person really is.

Sometimes I come back and re-read my posts and think that I sound like a really immature little ditsy girl or something... even though what I wrote at the time didn't come out the way I meant it for example.

I also think sometimes it is awkward because you have NO clue who the person is but they're like OH HEY so and so... don't I know you from somewhere? Like I said in previous posts... this has happened to me at very strange and inappropriate times because of facebook.

Can you imagine --- "Oh hey you're UserID1234, I enjoyed reading your posts online". Also another thing that may be weird are expectations- reading someone's posts may place certain expectations in another's mind about how someone acts (like if they're really serious all the time online maybe someone wouldn't expect a person to be real friendly in person, etc.)

No I'm not accepted anywhere yet. I know they are supposed to be unbiased, but everyone is well aware that that is not always the case. I choose to hedge my bets for now.

Plus I'm very analytical in decisions. I'll look at it from every possible angles before deciding to do something.

I am actually supposed to meet someone from these forums. I just have to find the time to drive up to Detroit.

The first time I met my friend Ducky, who I had talked to online for 9 years before meeting, I actually stammered when meeting him trying to decide what name to use lol

But it's less awkward than adding someone on Facebook who attends the same school and seeing that person the next day.

Oh man that would be hilarious... I doubt any are members of the sexy pharmacy group because they're mostly med students. I don't think I want to friend request too many SNDers just yet for the reasons stated above.

I know one guy from the forums who PMed me last year, and I might see him during the interview process and/or when he starts his P1 year in August.

As for the other guy, I know he lives somewhere close, so if I'm not busy, I might run into him randomly. I might already have and not realized who it was.

I'd only meet with a female. That's just me though lol.

Exactly... I actually wrote about that in my supplemental for UF because it asks "please describe your personality" ... it also asks "what is the strongest aspect of your personality"

I don't make many emotionally charged decisions, I'm very deliberate and analytical and I like to think things out from all perspectives and make the best choice based on what could happen.

I think I wouldn't know what to call a person either... I would probably refer to everyone like 'Oh hey phathead... I mean... wait... is that rude?" LOL

I actually met a few people from message boards when I was in high school because we were heading to the same cheer competition and we exchanged shirts and stuff. That wasn't too awkward but it was a little different.

Nicole, we're over...

Fitzgeral is mah boyy.

fitzy is a hottie... i'll admit jungle fever on him... but i'm literally sick of everyone saying "go cards, we almost won last time"... keyword: almost........................................... GO PATRIOTS !!!!!!

Yep, I'm always very calm and logical when coming to decisions. Learned a long time ago that letting your emotions get involved does no one good.

Most people just call me Phat that I know from online. Bit of improvement over my actual name lol

My first high school had a mascot named patriots. They weren't very good at football

That would be more difficult to arrange, in general. She would show up with a friend and then you won't be able to figure out which one you're meeting until you actually talk.

That is the last thing I would worry about. That may be a problem, but it gets resolved upon introducing yourself. Hardly a problem IMO. I would be more worried about the tag along friend. That is why I would be prepared and have my wing man to distract her. Have you never had a friend take one for the team at a club or party? Ive taken one for the team and expect my friends to do the same. Its a code.

I'll be honest, I am a fairweather fan. I don't follow a team religiously. I root for the Bears, but who's kidding, they suck.

Neither was NE for many years lol
lol they stink now too... since brady has his head up giselle's vjayjay

I would try to get to know her friend. Even if you do have someone to distract her friend, she might feel a little nervous to be left alone with you in the conversation. Sometimes friends have to step in if something goes too far

lol I guess you are. It is a little different for girls though. They can't put up with that kind of stuff.
