Right, so going to a wedding tonight. Am I supposed to be more dressed up than I was for the pharmacy school interview or less dressed up?

I'm thinking a nice shirt, nice jeans, and a nice suit jacket, and nice shoes.

jeans? nooo.

but it depends on whether the bride/groom are hippies or not, but jeans are typically a no-no.

but if it makes you feel any better, no one will be paying attention to you at all unless you show up in a clown suit.

No jeans!! =) Don't do it! haha.

I will occasionally see people at weddings wearing jeans and they always get ridiculed by other people there.

Although the other person is right, and everyone will be infatuated with the bride and groom anyways.

I'd go for a nice suit, jacket and tie. You'll take off the jacket once you get to the reception anyways and start dancing 😉

Okay, but I'm going without the tie though, I hate those things.

If you're nothing special (i.e., not involved at all IN the wedding ceremony) then I see nothing wrong with a button-up shirt, jeans and nice-r shoes. I'd probably add a blazer to the jeans, though, and I'd make sure they were NICE jeans, not my holies.

yeah NO jeans...you will get talked about behind your back, big social no-no... at least wear some khakis or something

"who the f**k wears jeans to a WEDDING?" says the girlfriend sitting behind me

This is true. My husband has female friends who talk about what people are wearing in a not so nice way. Their usual targets are women but if a guy showed up in jeans, I'm sure they'd take a break from trashing the usual victims to focus on him.

Yeah, let's care what petty, immature women think about what people wear.

True American right there.

This is so odd. I would wear jeans to a wedding without thinking twice about it. I figure if anyone wants to trash me behind my back, go right ahead. It's your problem, not mine. But then...I'm not American.

I think, at the very least, you should wear khakis. Jeans seems a little too casual for me.

The safe bet is a pair of khakis, a button up, and a tie. If you were a suit, you might be overdressed compared to most there, and if you wear a pair of jeans, you might be underdressed. And hell, a good pair of khakis can be just as comfortable if not more comfortable than most jeans anyway. I understand that a lot of the posters believe that other people's opinions shouldn't matter, so wear whatever you want. However, this day is about the bride and groom, therefore, respect them and wear something moderately nice.

i agree ^ ^ as long as your NOT in the actual wedding court itself. heyy, why not? and who gives a s*** what women say. hell, it's an everyday reality and your gonna hear it ANYWAY. besides! i think it would matter most to BOTH the bride and groom that your actually their and NOT their in a dam pair of jeans.

here in hawaii, for instance i do see a fair amount of both. meaning, there's either khakis/ aloha shirt combo or jeans/ aloha shirt combo. like i said i see nothing wrong with wearing a pair of jeans under those circumstances. buuut, if you were going with ME to ANY wedding...? you WILL at the very LEAST be wearing khakis...

wedding in hawaii....REAL ORIGINAL!!

10pts for the movie this came from.

Ultimately, it boils down to respect for the bride/groom. I mean they're getting married, they invited you along, the least you can do is dress up for them. Sheesh, you guys talk about wearing khakis/dressing up like it's prepping for heart surgery or something.

look, i agree. all i'm saying is that, at the very LEAST i'd much prefer my significant other to be wearing khakis over jeans PERIOD

I ended up wearing the same suit I wore to the interview with a blue shirt (the way it was colored, it definitely stood out than the normal blue), but I didn't wear a tie.

The main reason I was going to the wedding was to check out and hit on girls, asides from my friend getting married. 😀

Your mobile device is so ancient that you can't post on SDN from it? Epic fail, sir. 😛

There's going to be a riot in Philly regardless. What happens if the Yankees win the World Series?

And yes I did hit on a few people. See actually, I'm Indian, and it's a Muslim wedding, so it's not like I'm going to be able to take a girl home with me right then, hell my mom, my cousins, and my aunts were at the wedding too. Most people started leaving right after the food was served (around 12AM). The point was that now I know a few of those girls that I met at the wedding, it makes the next part of the game a lot easier.

My ex-girlfriend ended up not being there. I was wearing a shirt that she bought me for my birthday. :meanie:
