Quick question. Last year I took the LSAT wanted to see how I would do and I was thinking about going to law school. I did very poorly. I am on my way to dentistry now, and have a decent gpa. My question is this: When I fill out the apps for dental school. Will ther ebe questions asking me if I took any other tests, and also asking me for my score?

I know they ask if you have taken any other professional exams, but I don't know if they ask for your scores.

I could be wrong about this, but when I filled the AADSAS last year I don't recall them asking me if I took any other exams. Even if they did, they will never ask how you did on it, don't worry about dental schools finding out hidden info about you, they know whatever you tell them, there are too many applicants for them to do personal history checks 😉 .

However, I know for sure that they asked if you have applied to other professional schools.

If they ask you about this in an interview, just say that it was a brief moment of madness... 😉

i think that D-schools dont care much if you have taken other test, but they do care if you applied to other prof. schools

I remember they had an option i checked that I had taken the MCAT and GRE in the past 2 years or something like that. 1/6 schools asked about the GRE and 2/6 asked about the MCAT. I said I hadn't completely made up my mind so I took the MCAT/GRE and DAT my junior/senior year and did very well on all three and set my sites on dentistry.

thanks guys. The thing is that I actually did apply to Law School just to see if I would get in. I didn't... But Ir easlly dont want to list this on my app. What od u think?

Out of curiosity, how'd you do on the LSAT, and what month did you take it in?

I took the October one several years ago.

Were you planning to go to law school? How did you change your mind and decide to go to dental school? I have a relative in a similar situation. Thanks. 🙂

actiualyl got a job paralegaling and saw that was **** and not what I nwated to do. I know it was stupid for me to apply first but that's what I did. Also every other person is a lawyer now and they don't make a lot of $$$ like be4 unless uw ant to work 18 hours a day..

What about dentistry interests you? The legal profession doesnt have much in common with the health porfessions, and have you taken any of the prereqs? Maybe you should shadow a dentist and go from there, because it seems like your jumping into something just prematurely.

nothen2do. I have about 200 hours shadowing different dentists now. I LOVE it. I like working with ym hands, I like helping people smile right away. Like the $$ the hours, etc...

good

so is that okay ? can I just not mention applying?

Yes. Don’t mention that you applied. And if they find out that you applied and ask you about it, WHO CARES...just come up with some BS about how you thought law was for you until you got a cavity that was life threatening and then a dentist saved your life...blah blah blah. Hope your questions are answered. 😉

thanks guys. So basically if it asks me if I took any other tests and LSAT is listed there is it okay if I dont check it off? Or should I check it off?

JohnDoe,

Make sure you bring up the fact that you like the $$ and hours the most about dentistry. Admissions committees love to hear that as your answer for "why do you want dentistry?" 😉

I think you PMed me with this question, but I lost it so I'll respond briefly here.

I'm still planning to go to law school, although those plans are on hold as of now. If I weren't married, I'd ask my school for a three-year LOA and complete law school prior to starting clinic.

I don't want to practice law, but I do want to practice dentistry. I'm still fascinated by law however, and want to earn the degree. Ideally I should have gone to law school PRIOR to dental school. The other way around makes it difficult if you want to practice dentistry, because you graduate dental school and then must put your hand skills and dental knowledge to bed for several years while attending law school (unless you can find a way to moonlight somehow while in law school).

I'm jealous of programs that offer dual degrees (DMD/JD), but I have no doubt that I'll get my JD someday.

Of course, my LSAT scores aren't good anymore, so I'll have to study up for it again. The nice thing about studying for it was all of the actual exams taht have been released. At one point I recall owning 25 of them, which made taking the actual exam a breeze (there are only so many logic problems they can ask you).

I scored a 175, which was a point or so below what I was scoring in timed practice exams.
