'other' or 'no response'

if i were to put 'other' or 'no response' on an application when it asks about race or ethnicity, can they ask me about it later, or would that be an illegal question ?

It has been asked and answered. You'd not be asked again. You go into the database in that category and that's it.

I don't think they would ask you about it again, but if it were me I would wonder a bit about the perception the applicant review team has when they see an answer of "other" or "no response"

for me, part of it is cultural. i spent the first 14 years of my life overseas. back in the old country, race or ethnicity was not really part of one's identity. everyone was more or less defined by their nationality.
