Has anyone ever heard on an EM 1 postition opening up in the middle of the year? Is this really unusual? I'm graduating in August and would prefer to start residency in Sept/ oct rather than waiting till next july. How do I find out about programs that have openings mid year? Thanks in advance

People drop out, get sick, get fired etc. Check on the saem web page residency vacancies section: http://www.saem.org/services/resvacan.htm

Usually tend to be EM2 and EM3 positions, but an occasional EM1 opens.
