Ya, study from the Kaplan book, but be prepared to supplement it with other things. I just started using dat achiever and I really like it. I wish I had been taking the tests all along to see where I needed to concentrate my studies. Cliffs AP biology book is a really good review. Some folks say its better than the Schaums review, but I have not seen Schaums to really judge. I feel it gives a great biology overview, but doesnt give me the detail in some areas I feel I need. Examkrackers general chem was a fantastic general chemistry review I thought. If you can answer those questions, there is nothing that can stop you in gen chem. I have their organic and biology book as well. The organic doesnt seem as well made(some typos, bad questions), but it is still pretty solid. The biology book I picked up and it has a lot of MCAT type passages(which of course what the book is made for). However, there are a pretty good number of independent questions (like the DAT) and they offered a decent review as well. The last study material I have been using is the DAT destroyer. That book is plain discouraging. The questions in organic are overly difficult and if the DAT was like this book a 12 might be a good DAT score. It seems to focus on the exceptions to the rules, which...honestly, I wouldnt waste time learning until much much later. The math section was overly easy and filled with errors. It has helped me a bit, but its not worth the 180 dollars or whatever it costs to buy it and pay for shipping.
All of these study guides are nice for offering you a short explaination on the important topics. However, keep your old textbooks handy. If theres a concept you are having trouble with, these guides generally do a poor job of doing a great explanation. They are mostly useful to "relearn" material you have forgotten. General chemistry for instance I had taken over 6 years ago and had long forgotten everything. I first took notes and read the kaplan review. Then, having my textbook handy while going through the examkrakers questions brought back all that old knowledge and taught me a lot of things I dont even remember going over.
