Oto and Opthalmoscopes

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You may not even need to by an oto/opthalmascope. Might want to wait until you start and find out for sure because they are EXPENSIVE.

Sorry I don't have any brands to recommend. I love my Littman Cardio 2 (or is it 3?). It was ~$125. You might try a search because I've seen lots of threads on this before. I'm sure other people will chime in shortly too. 😀 It's fun buying instruments.

for second year i did not buy them
every outpatient room has them where im at
id wait and see if you need them
i dont think there are any doctors walking around with there own

I was surprised too - along with my book list my school sent me, required instruments were all 3 - For a 1st year I was very surprised.

i think they told my class they were required also
i just ignored that memo
nothing bad happened
just about my whole class didnt buy them

good luck

Yeah, same here. "Required". You will need a stethoscope though.

BTW, in med school "required" really means "optional" until proven otherwise. Even then, buy a set off some upperclassman, or else wait for a closeout sale at some medical bookstore, like I did, where you can buy a set for dirt cheap. I got a brand new set for $250 (reg price $620), because the surviving branch of the chain didn't want to enter the merchandise from the closing store into its own inventory. Last one, too. Score. 👍 For that price, why bother trying to get by without one?

Although it WAS kind of embarassing that the cashier knew my name without having to look at my debit card. And it's been over two years since I last visited the place. 😳
