Hey all,

What do most academic fellowships consider to be important criteria when screening applications for fellowship interviews? In particular, how important are (or are not) USMLE Step 3 scores, in-service scores, LOR, research?

your letters of recommendation and research are going to be what matters. Maybe what school your coming from, but truly the fellowship trail, that seemed to be somewhat irrelavent.

Nobody cares about scores at this point. As long as you didn't fail step 3, it doesn't matter. On that note, most programs don't really emphasize doing well on inservice, and I'm not sure programs can see how you did regardless.

What matters is that a) you are successfully completing an ENT residency with some level of competency, and b) your superiors and colleagues didn't want to murder you the past 5 years, as reflected in a positive LOR. ENT is a small world, so PD and chair letters with a glowing endorsement go a long way.

After that, its just being a normal person in the interviews, which are 10000x more chill than residency interviews, which plain suck.
