Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read this and offer insight!

OU-HCOM Cleveland:

Pros: cheaper tuition ($39,600 MS1-MS2; $59,400 MS3-MS4)
Very close to family and friends
Great affiliated hospitals
P/F (but with top 10% ranked I believe)
Good reputation

Cons:
Mandatory classes and dresscode
Newer curriculum (more of a flipped classroom approach; I’ve heard it’s much more time-consuming and difficult compared to previously)
Smaller campus

WVSOM:
Pros:
Lower COL
Great interview day - students seemed very helpful of one another and there seemed to be a great atmosphere
Beautiful campus

Cons:
Higher tuition ($53,710 every year)
5.5 hours from home (although not bad)
In a rural area (not that much of a con), although there are beautiful hikes nearby
Not P/F

I am in a serious relationship and will likely be moving in with my SO prior to matriculation. His job is based in Cleveland, but he does have the ability to relocate while I’m in school. My parents are older so staying close to home would be great, but I’ve also never had the opportunity to live elsewhere.

I would like to attend a campus with a supportive, collaborative environment and not be drowning in loans upon graduation. I do worry about the new curriculum at OU and that mandatory attendance could make my life that much harder while in school. As of now, I plan to practice Family Med. I want to practice in the Cleveland area.

Obviously, I’m leaning towards OU, I just would like reassurance as WVSOM really did impress me with their interview day and the students all seemed extremely happy to be there.

Thank you for any insight!

I’d go OU, seems like you’d save about 30k and cost of living difference is probably made up by the fact you won’t have to travel home. You’ve got a strong support system there and I think P/F will make much more of a difference then the attendance policy. Even without mandatory attendance, I think you’d have more stress worrying about doing well enough in classes at WVSOM.
