What happens if you match, sign your contract, and for whatever reason your actual graduation is delayed? Do you basically lose your spot and have to sit around twiddling thumbs for a year?

I think they would just start you off cycle.

You would start off cycle and you would likely be going the route of the GMO. It is unlikely you would be selected for straight through training.

You would still go GMO even if you have already signed a continuous training contract?

Remember NavyFP is coming from the navy perspective with widespread GMO usage. In the AF (which is probably more like the Army in this regard) you would most likely start a little late (we had an intern start late d/t delayed graduation when I started my internship). The delayed start/end of your residency may affect the end of your ADSO (in the AF, if I'm remembering correctly, it goes in six month blocks, so if you graduate residency a month late, the end of your ADSO will be extended to the 6-month mark, unless there is additional ADSO accrued [ex. sponsored fellowship]. I do not know if the Army does things this way.)

True, sorry for not being more service sensitive. Agree, you would graduate late.
