Yes, my 12-year-old daughter is going to Guatemala with a group from our church (almost all adults) August 2-9. She is very excited. I'm scared to death, but it is truly something she feels called to do. Our church is giving out two scholarships to kids in the youth group, and she wrote an amazing essay about why missions is important to her. She's always been very mission-oriented, and has dragged me along into it. I can't go to Guatemala, though, because that is the first week of class!!
Don't worry mom, its not that dangerous haha. If she doesn't get the scholarship, does she still get to go? Pleeeease mom??? My sister and her husband are both in seminary, with an eye towards doing international missions of some sort. They'll be in Asia this summer. Thought about getting my passport stamped as well, but dang its expensive to travel now with the $ like it is.
Opinions are split about the White Coat ceremony thing, if you've spent time in the Allo forum. Chances are she really won't be missing much. It is cool to put on the coat though. People on the street glance at you a little longer than usual haha.
A 21 year old who turns 22 on Friday...![]()
Haha...I promise you won't notice any difference between 11:59 pm Thur and 12:01 am Fri (adjust for actual time of birth). I better say Happy Birthday now because I will forget later...so Happy Birthday! Glad to be on the same bat time, same bat channel with ya.
