Anyone get one yet?

I got an e-mail from them on the 30th of July that said:

"In the near future your file will
undergo a preliminary review and you will be notified as soon as
possible concerning submission of supplemental materials".

Just wondering when "the near future" might be arriving. I know it's a crazy long shot as a non-res there, but I lived in Tacoma until about two years ago so I had to give it a shot.

*sigh* back to e-mail/mailbox watch.

hey adam, before deciding to be an insensitive condescending jacka$$, how about noticing that she's talking about the UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON!!! Tacoma is in WA state and her name is amywa . . . as in WASHINGTON STATE!! How do you like THEM apples?
btw, amy, its hard to get into UW from out of state, near impossible, but they do take a few from year to year, but it's not dependent on numbers, just randomness. Good luck!

lmao....I apologize, that other thread threw me off.

Sorry to reply, but do you really need to flame me for having a question? 😕

Actually, I had looked through and only found posts on the out-of-state thing for other schools and was wondering what anyone else had heard.

I know it's next to impossible, but like I said, sometimes you give things a shot so when all is said and done you can't what-if yourself. 😉 I'm not a res there anymore, but still have property there and that's where my coolest ECs are based, so who knows?

As for WI residency- I'm scared that they are all big meanies like you 😛

Eek, apparently while I was composing I missed all the activity.

All is well......

But seriously, HAS anyone gotten one yet?

Amy, good luck to you. UW is my first choice... I'll cross my fingers for you--it would be nice to be there together next fall! 🙂

It is NOT "impossible" to get in from out of state - about 40% of the 2003 class was OOS, according to the AAMC.

I was born in Tacoma, graduated from the Dub, and now live in Oregon. I, too, felt compelled to give it a shot.

I called the admissions office last week and was told that secondary apps won't go out for another 3-4 weeks.

And so we wait . . .

I am not a big meanie...maybe a small one, but I have to be honest when people are deluded. You do not fall in this group, because I was just a ******* and assumed you were talking about wisconsin.

Thanks. At least knowing that they haven't gone out yet gives me a ray of hope.
I figured that I'd check here b/c I always think I sound like the insane, hair-on-fire pre-med girl when I call and ask stuff like that.

Here's one for despiration...My drivers license is still from WA think I could just fake it?

I'm complete at UW, but then again I'm in-state so that probably doesn't help you much. The 40% number of out of staters includes mostly WWAMI residents, but with any medical school, there's still a chance especially if you have a strong proven commitment to rural/underserved medicine.

 Darn Cheeseheads....don't think there are any other "W" states

Exactly, **** west virginia, wyoming and any others I left out
