Hi everyone!! I'm new to the forum and am very impressed by all the great information here.

I graduated with a BS in Biology in 2005, and the dental school that I'm interested in says that credits are outdated after 5 years. Well, 2010 would be 5 years, but I wouldn't be ready to apply until probably 2011.

My question is, would I be required to retake ALL my undergrad required courses again due to being "out of date"? That would be around 40-60 hours of classes. Ouch! Thanks for any advice!

It would be really difficult, but I'm sure if you really wanted to you could take all your classes in that time.

What did you do after graduating? Did you have a lab job or science industry job?

If you worked extensively with physics, chemistry, or biology since you graduated, you may not need to take the pre-reqs that were pertinent to your job.

Just something to keep in mind! 🙂

is it worth it to retake all those courses just for that one school that you aren't even sure will admit you?

I'm an RDH and have been since 2007. I love being a dental hygienist, but becoming a DDS has always intrigued me. Now that I've worked in the field for 2.5 years now, I see that I really do love the dental profession and patient care. There's an art to dentistry that I find fascinating.

I had emailed the school's admission director, but he did not give me a clear cut answer via email. He wants me to call instead. He could have just flat out said that I would have to retake everything just in the email....but he said nothing like that. So, I guess my first step is to call him and actually speak with him about this. As far as it being worth it for me to retake almost 60 hours of intense classes that I've already taken, yikes. I will just have to see what he says. I'm a bit nervous about what he might tell me. If he says that I won't be required to take everything again, that would be fantastic. But if he says I do, well, that's a tough one. 😕
