Are there any outta state applicants that have been accepted in Texas? Did any of y'all bother to apply? Anyone even interview here?

If not...why not???

I'm assuming the reason why some didn't bother revolves around the fact that only a very small number of out-of-state applicants are accepted.

That being said, the location, cost, and match list for the school are pretty doggone good.

I imagine to get in from outside the state one needs pretty good stats.

On another note.....TCOM does have an early decision program. However, it is implied one needs great stats for that as well.

I know what you mean, though. TCOM is a very nice school.

😀 😀

By state law, any state-funded medical school in Texas has to take something like 98% of its students from the in-state pool.

I'm not sure I'd brave those odds if I was from out of state.

I did 😀

I applied out of state to the EDP program and got in!

90% must come from Texas. A possible of 10% can come from out-of-state but that number is rarely reached.

I guess that was my point...if less than 10% of the class is from outta state, then why don't more people apply? I would think that if there were good, quality folks from other states that applied, then they would take more outta staters and get the percentage up to the max 10% allowed.

someone in another forum mentioned that in Texas, if the school gives an out of state applicant a $1k scholarship, the out of state tuition gets waived. Is this true?

Does TCOM award scholarships to first years?
