I'd really appreciate some advice here!
OUWB
Pros:
-Honors/Pass/Pass with Remediation/Fail in the first two years *Pass with Remediation is when you fail an exam but retake it and pass
-Really close to home and support system
-Would know more people going there
Cons:
-Mandatory attendance? (not sure if this is a con or neutral)
Cincinnati:
Pros:
-More established than OUWB, reputation-wise
-Has wider variety of research opportunities
-Attendance not mandatory
Cons:
-Far from home
-Quiz every Monday-would this mean there are basically no weekends ever?
-Four-tiered grading (honors/high pass/pass/fail)
Tuition: $137k at UC for four years of tuition assuming I get in-state residency after the first year. OUWB: $214k, but I would be living at home and commuting in the last 1-2 years. There are also costs associated with travel to and from UC and home
I guess I'm not sure which of the two has the better grading system because I'm not sure how common it is to fail an exam in medical school. Would either of those grading systems foster a lot of competition?
And if I want an academic residency, how important is it to to go the place with better research opportunities?
I'd really appreciate any guidance!
