Hi I am taking a really difficult biology class right now, and I was wondering if it is ok to take my breadth class and my anatomy class P/NP. Would taking two classes P/NP in one semester look bad?
My pre-med advisor always suggested to not take any courses you may want medical schools to consider (or any courses in your major) pass/fail. I don't know what your breadth class is, but anatomy is a science class so I would probably stick it out. On the other hand...how poorly do you think you will perform? B? C?
Well, I received a C on my first midterm for anatomy, but I don't think I studied right. So if I get an A on the next two midterms, I'll probably get a B or B+ in the class. Do you think that's better than a P? I am pretty sure I am going to pass/fail my music class. Definitely like the class, but dislike the subjective grading.
1. Having more than one P/F course in a semester calls your ability to handle challenging academic environments (such as the environment you might find in medical school) into question. To counteract this potential concern, you would be well advised to take a very heavy courseload next semester and get A's.
2. I don't know how advisable it is to take science classes P/F. If I chose to take science courses P/F I would probably want to take an extra upper level science course for credit (maybe related to the course I took P/F) and do very well.
