There are multiple threads about the NEMBR course on here and I have heard nothing but great things about it. Myself and a few old classmates have some conflicts with timing as well as refusing to go to Las Vegas for a review course.

We have looked at the other options, and the Pennsylvania ACEP Written review in Baltimore works out the best for our schedules. I can find vitually nothing written about it as far as 'how good it is/was'

Has anyone on here actually taken the class? Would you PM me. I have searched old threads and pretty much just find "I heard its good, or I have the printed material from it, etc"

Thanks!

Figured I should give a review since there isn't one....

Myself and three past resident friends went to the course. We arrived by lunch on Thursday and started lectures that day from 3PM until 9PM. The next three days we went from 8AM until 6:30PM... we did end a few hours earlier the last day.

They give you a large binder of lecture handout material; there were really concise and many high yield topics were underlined/starred/etc. They also give a book of approx 1300 questions; answers are included and either typed reasons or pages from Rosens to look it up. They also had a room setup and open for viewing the entire time with approx 120 'Visual Stimuli' pictures.

There were mainly 'recert' people at the course, which surprised me. I assumed the recert would be easier and it would be more new graduates that are worried. Talking to some of the people there, and the course directors, did point out that most residents who are new graduates should not have a problem with the test... Maybe we just want to be extra cautious.

The lectures were really good. They were to the point, high yield information. They left the 'warm and fuzzy' stuff out and just got it down to what you need to know. One thing I REALLY liked was that each day we started with 'just the facts' there were literally the highest of high yield facts from the day before. These sheets are money and I will be reading them nightly until I take the test. There were adequate breaks, breakfeast, drinks/snacks all day long, and really good lunch each day. It was held at a Westin with free shuttle from BWI (Baltimore airport). There was mainly just east coast people there. At least from the badges I saw, myself and friends (TX, MS, GA, and LA) by far traveled the fatherest....

All and all, I was very glad I went. The topics were awesome, it forced me to focus hardcore for several days, the questions appear to be really good (more to come on that as I complete them), and the binder of lectures is really good. Airfare, hotel, course costs, and food.. I was out about $1700..tax deductable of course. I had a great time visiting my friends and we had several really memorable evenings in baltimore. The price above did not include said memorable evenings.

I will report back when/if I pass, and will give a correlate to my inservice. I have had a passing in-service score the last two times I took it.

I intend to take an oral review course; I do understand these guys give one of them and I will most likely be at it when the written goes well.

On the flip side, I went to NEMBR. I enjoyed it, even if the days were long, and started early. It was $695 to register, and room and airfare was only $450, because it's Vegas. There were a ton of people there, and all of the big name people from EM:RAP and EM:A were giving lectures, which was cool.
I used it as piece of mind, as I too got a big binder, and they give us 60 days of challenger questions to work with. I especially like the "pass or do it again free" concept, not that I want to use it.
I imagine they're all pretty similar (at least all the big ones) as the information is the same, and the buzzwords/FOILs can't change much.
