hi! I just got accepted to UOP and was looking for a roomate. Anyone else looking for a roomate?

HI!

Im going to be your classmate next year and I look forward to meeting you at orientation. I would look on craigslist for 1 bedroom condos. When I looked last week, you could get a 1bed/1bath for about $550-$600 per month. I also come from SOCAL so to me, that is relatively decent. There was no photos posted so I couldn't tell you what they looked like but just be careful where u rent though. I would advise you to get an apartment as close to campus as possible for safety issues. My friend was telling me that there are apartments very close to the school. If I found out the name of it, I will PM you.

I'll be living in Brookside next year. I hope you get in but yes, brookside is quite difficult to get into because preference is given to undergrads.

Good Luck

hey everyone,

I have lived in stockton all my life and let me know if you individuals want to know about a particular area you will be living moving to or about a particular location in Stockon....I can tell you if its a bad or good area....or I can help with any other questions about stockton...PM of leave a message here.......

Also, I am 90% sure I will be renting out several of my rooms only to UOP students....

I know there are a few places getting rent out around here. My friends just got a 3 bedroom apt for 1400 a month. I thought that was cheap since they are going to divide that for SIX people. I have no clue how they'll manage their space.

HEY

I know you said that You had a spot at brookside. I was wondering if you had any advice for me regarding which meal plan I should choose. I chose the Bronze meal plan of $1200 but do u think that I should upgrade? How far are the dining commons from Brookside? I know Brookside has a kitchen that is why i didn't want to get a very expensive meal plan but I would appreciate any advice you have for me on the subject. I know we can use this meal money towards the Health Sci Cafe and Starbucks so I think that is good considering how I am definitely a Starbucks addict... i need my chai tea latte! LOL.

Thanks In Advance

Did anybody get housing confirmation yet? So far I got an email from Housing to be put on the waitlist. I'm not apply for Brookside, but instead of a campus apartment.

when you guys were accepted they just asked for you to fill out a form for housing right. I still haven't heard anything. Am i supposed to call them or email them to confirm my decision of wanting to house in brookside? And there are campus apartments? or are those just apartment near the school?

i was accepted in early february and applied for housing at brookside then...but still haven't heard anything from them. i guess my chances of getting there are pretty slim then, huh?

i guess i gotta start looking for some roomates also.

Wow you got housing? nice. I'm getting the cheapest meal plan. My roommates are from bay area, so they go home every weekend and will probably bring back Chinese food! (I'm Chinese by the way.)

Unless you are too lazy to shop and cook, choose the lowest meal plan. The dining hall is around 10 min walk from Brookside. But I skateboard, so it's not too bad. IMO, the cost is way too expensive, but the school is forcing students to have a meal plan to make up the deficit for paying for the new staff and all that jazz for the new dining hall.

I was reading about the new dining plans and they state that everyone regardless if they live even in university apartments must get a meal plan now. They are changing from the all you can eat buffet meal plan to a declining balance plan. So basically, you buy what you eat. I guess it depends on how much you eat, to see if this is a good deal or not. The advantage of the meal plan is that you get a 5% discount and don't pay sales tax, so you save 13% versus just paying cash. The new dining hall is in that new University Center that is suppose to be finished by Fall and they are closing all the old dining halls.

Can someone help clarify something about housing for me. I keep calling a couple of times but the people there weren't quite sure and they main person to ask was not there. Pharmacy students have 3 semesters a year, compared to the normal 2 semesters. For housing, do they charge you for 3 semesters then. When I called about the brookside costs, I was told the price of the whole year and when I asked about the summer since Pharmacy students have school and they stated that we can stay in brookside during the summer, but said that the cost would be the same. This sounds wrong to me because then we get an extra 3 months for free, what school does that?

Forget it, I got the rate sheet and found the answer to my question. Pharmacy students get charged 3 semesters of housing. At this point, I'm thinking, it's a lot cheaper to live off campus.

Alright, I finally got things figured out, so I thought I would post here to let everyone know since you guys are probably confused too.

So as a pharmacy student, we have 3 semesters and we get charged a different rate than the rest of the university. When I called they kept giving me the regular students rate, hence the confusion. The rates I was given are tentative and can change as of now. For a pharmacy student to live in Brookside, the whole year with bronze is $10,509, silver is $13,470, gold is $13,692, platinum is $13,902. This is in comparison to $8,388 for bronze for the regular students who would live in Brookside for 2 semesters.

The price is actually really good then for pharmacy students. Considering it costs $1200 per semester for the bronze meal plan, that means you're paying only $279 to live in Brookside an extra semester.

Of course living off campus is cheapest of all and no mandatory meal plan required every semester. A parking permit is $50 for north of the river where the pharmacy school is.

Hope this helped.

Correction, pharmacy students don't get the meal dollars for the Spring semester, which is summer time for us. So total cost of brookside is for the year I listed above is rent for the year and 2 meal plans during the Fall and Winter semester. I believe also that you have to leave during the winter break because they close Brookside, not 100% about this though.
