hihi babysitting my phone just in case Kieran calls. You know the worst part osubeav?... going over and over every part of my interview. Lolz.

Same here! I thought it went so well. I have been on committee hold since I interviewed on the 8th. I got an email on Thursday saying my application will remain on committee hold. We just have to hope for the best at this point! 😀
 
i'm still on committee hold as well and i interviewed on the 8th but i don't care anymore because I got into my first choice this past wednesday-Lecom-erie. It also has a 3 year program and a lot more cheaper so whatever.

Hi...would you happen to know when school starts in the Fall? Also, any suggestions for a decent and affordable apartment close to the school? Orenco Station is a bit expensive. As you can see, I'm trying to plan my move to OR.

Angiebare, I too am starting to try to find housing. I'm using the school's website as a guide: http://www.pacificu.edu/hpc/housing.cfm

If you click on the PDF, there is a listing of apartments...it's pretty helpful but I plan on taking a trip up there sometime to look 😀
 
I was wondering if anyone knows if there is specific timeline on which the school responds for acceptance to your interview. I interviewed a few weeks ago and I still have not heard back from them, any advice would be really appreciated. thanksssss

Thanks! My husband and I are on a waitlist for a few apartments and we're planning a trip in May to physically check out the area and the apartments. I think we'll rent for a short time, but are seriously considering on buying a home once we know the area better.

However, knowing when school starts will help us decide on the excite move date.

WOW NICE!!! good job on getting into your first choice school! Did pacific send an updated committee hold email on the 27th? I haven't received a committee hold email yet.. so maybe that is still a good sign?
 
They did send me an updated committee hold email on the 27th. I think they notify people at the latest 2 weeks after their interview so hopefully you will get good news very soon. 😀

Congratulations!! Yes there is a facebook page, if you do a search for Pacific University School of Pharmacy c/o 2014, it should come up. (That's how I found it). Then click on "add to group" and then someone will add you to the group🙂

I interviewed at pacific on 1/22 and im IN! I feel a thousand dollars lighter, but a thousand times happier haha. Hello Pharmacy School!

Thanks rxlatte! I am also planning the move as well. Let us know which apartment you found to be the best because I hope to be able to stay at some place for 3 years rather than moving every year.
 
If anyone has been accepted to this school, please let me know so you can be added to the roll call for 2014/2015. Please post in the sticky thread or PM me your acceptances and the program you will be attending (if accepted to multiple schools).🙂

I paid around $90 for the hotel. Shuttle from airport is not provided, but I didn't need it since I rented a car to get around. Renting a car via hotwire.com is really cheap. Sightseeing was limited to downtown Portland...mainly to check out restaurants and shops. However, there are apparently tons more to check out in OR - nature scenes if you're into that. I've always been more of a city gal and a foodie!

I'm really sorry to bother you...but I'm interviewing at pacific next Saturday (feb. 19th) and would like to ask you some questions.
1.) what was your experience like?
2.) Were there a lot of scenario questions during the interview?
3.) Do you know if they take into consideration of the group activities when they make acceptance decision?
4.) What things do you feel are important to know about Pacific?
5.) What things do you wish you could have known about Pacific before the interview?

Hi! I'm new to this forum but I was wondering...from your past experience....do you know if healthcare issues will be asked at the interview and is having some pharmacy tech experience important or not (I obtained a pharm tech license, but did not find a job...but I did some shadowing at the hospital tho)? How should i prepare for the interview? is it any different from other school interviews
 
I got accepted to my top choice UOP, so I declined my admission to Pacific U Oregon..So someone else is gonna hear from them soon 😉

I got an interview invite for march 5th. anybody have recommendations on what airlines to take and what motels/hotel i should take.

any advice would be appreciated
 
Any flights with low rates....n dont go for econolodge hotel: near Pacific Uni🙂

I stayed at the Springhill Suites for my interview back in Jan.

Not the cheapest place but they have a van that can pick you up at the train station or take you to the school for free.

Hi Im not angiebear, but Ill answer what I can ( sorry i havent check this page.. hopefully this will help you guys out in two days!)

1- the interview felt like orientation, where we learn about the curriculum and speak with current students. I spoke with alot of the students and the other interviewers because the schools like out-going and friendly people, and because talking to people is fun 🙂
2- I was in the first group to interview, so I didnt get alot of group-related questions because I havent done the excercise yet. I did get a scenario of "what would you do if the pharmacy manager asked you to do something illegal" - im sure you guys know my answer 🙂

3- YES! the activity is important because it shows how well you work in a group, and what role you take. In addition, pacific has you take test in groups as part of the curric.. so perform your best here!

4- important to know pacific is competency-based school. know that they like people that can get along with others. know that there are no summer vaca.

5- I researched alot since it is a local school for me.. but many people wish they knew that it is only one floor of one building.


** someone asked about the writing sample: It is a "what would you do" scenario. and it is one page (FRONT ONLY!) please read the instructions and make sure 1) you write only on the front. 2) put your name at the bottom. . Also I think ours was about 20-25 mins.. you dont HAVE to structure it 5 paragraph essay.. just coherent and shows that you can write 🙂

hey soonie. i'm a current p1 at pacific and during my interview, it was extremely laid back. i don't think they asked me about healthcare issues - they mainly focus on you as a person and will ask you questions that you can answer. don't worry too much!

he told me that I can carpool with you tomorrow...i hope thats okay with you....i think we should get there around 7:30am or so
 
i think the earlier shift manager said that there were at least 2 people (including me) who drove. so i'll be there. if you don't see me (asian, 5'10", shaved head) please wake me up! room 129.

for some strange reason, i'm not sleepy --- so will probably stay up reading and stuff, and end up sleeping late.

I completely understand why you cant sleep.. the night before my interview, I couldn't sleep until 3:50am. 🙂

For those who doesn't like to carry purses/bags, Pacific provide bottles of water, pens, paper, and all that good stuff. Interviews ( at least the ones on 1/22 doesn't start until after lunch.


Anyways goodluck to everyone of you guys!
 
hey pharmbear, thanks for the thoguhtful message. but honestly, it's not beause i'm nervous, it's just a bad mix of caffeine and sleeping on the flight over. And the stinking heater fan being too loud.

i can aver that this isn't the most ghetto econolodge i've been to, but it's close.
