Does anyone know about the writing sample. I saw the previous post, but I was wondering if there was anymore information or tips. It might not be fair, I'm not sure... I assume they will change the question. Help would be greatly appreciated

Are you getting off the plane that morning? Does anyone know how many candidates are now being interviewed? Any locals have suggestions for what I should do with 2 free days in Portland? Does the campus have a gym?
Hey Canada,
I'm getting in Thursday and leaving saturday. I road tripped it up to Oregon two months ago and hit voodoo doughnuts and the bookstore they were talking about. Both a must! Are you interviewing on the 7th or the 8th?

Hi! I am interviewing on the 8th. I assume that you are interviewing on the 7th? Do you know if there is a difference between the two days? I am so nervous because I know this is very competitive, and of course Pacific is my top choice. A road trip sounds fun. Do you also have a campus tour? thanks!

Does anyone know how strongly the admissions committee is weighing the writing sample? I am terrified I will be so nervous that I will clam up and not be able to write as well as I normally do!!

It seems to me that Pacific does a good job at looking at the entire candidate. When I did mine---it wasnt so bad. Just give yourself enough time to edit it.

Yup. I'm on the 7th. I doubt there's any difference between the two days but it's weird because I have literally talked to NO ONE who has their interview day on the 7th so...that makes me a little uneasy but I verified with Jon-Erik that that was my day so...we shall see.

I actually took a small tour my junior year of college...seriously been gunning for Pacific for the last three years. No pressure or anything... I think all of us should totally go out on the town friday night in portland and have fun after our interviews! After all, we're all going to get in and spend the next three years together! We're getting in. I feel it in my bones people!

Do you mind if I ask what your essay question was? I know they change it every interview session. Just curious 🙂

Well-I did mine last year. It was something like how you made a positive difference in another person's life. I dont think I did that well but I still got in (on the waitlist). Also last year we had to write it out by hand.

Thanks-I was wondering if it would need to be hand written! Hopefully pencil is acceptable because I am sure I will be erasing like crazy!! haha

What do you mean by "got in by waitlist"??

Are you a current student in the program at Pacific?

They have a tier'd waitlist. If someone denies the admissions or if someone changes their minds... people on the waitlist are called by the order they are listed. Tier 1- first. and so on. I heard that you should write quality instead of quantity. And I have a question about the day... do we have a group interview and private? I am hearing mixed things.

I was at the February 8th interview and we had private interviews, they are about 25 minutes long. The writing sample is done in a room with your group (you write your own but your in a room together), and there's about 20 minutes for the writing part.

I think we will have individual interviews

@jgorea21 did you interview with a panel or was it one on one?

That is what I thought. I ran into someone else interviewing tomorrow and she said panel. I am glad it is one on one.

I interviewed today. If I could give any of you advice, it's just to remain calm, be professional, and be your true self. I was nervous but I think it's how you present yourself that matters. But you all will do fine. The only thing scary about it is your own nerves but every single administrator, faculty member, and student are wonderfully kind and they aren't there to intimidate or scare you. So, go in with no worries about that. Good luck tomorrow you guys!!

For those of you who interviewed at Pacific in March when did they say they would let you know of their decisions? I know back in February they said mid-March but I was just wondering if they gave you a more specific date!

@MarieOT They said they are aiming for the week of the 17th to get back to everybody who interviewed. Also heard a little rumor that they *may* be considering taking on more than 32 students since there were so many highly qualified applicants? I hope this is true 😉

That's exciting! I'm glad they are considering taking on more people. I hope everyone hears good news next week!

Hi, I know some have heard news. Is everyone supposed to know by the 17th?

When I interviewed in February I was told we would start hearing around the 17th. I don't think they have a plan to let everyone know by then, it's just when they initially thought they would start letting people know. Are others hearing that they've been accepted or wait-listed, or both? It makes me nervous that others are hearing things already!

Accepted.

@jgorea I interviewed last week and have not heard either way yet either....

You've been accepted already? How did they let you know?... by the way, congratulations!

I believe they call people that are accepted, and then they receive a packet in the mail. Those who are wait-listed will receive an email. At least that's what they did last year.

Calling should take awhile, right. Haha. It was a competitive year. I know everyone I was with seemed like a great fit. So fingers crossed and good luck to everyone.

Has anyone heard anything yet? I'm assuming we will know by the end of this week... Does anyone have any insight into this?

I wrote an email. Jon said they were meeting all this week and we would hear by the end or even next week. He said they are unsure of where they are going with the program. I think that was in regard to more students. I am thinking the person called was very lucky.

Haven't had it yet. Their second interview day is on 3/28 for everyone. I got the invitation back in December. I went there for undergrad. So, I am not as excited about it. After 11 years in Nashville, I am ready for a change of scenery. Let me know if you need restaurant or other suggestions.
I'll be at the Belmont interview next week. I would love some restaurant suggestions as well as things to do. I have never been to Nashville so I would really appreciate it :hello:

Thanks for letting us know! I have been very antsy.

Hi all,

I interviewed at Pacific U on March 7th, I thought I would hear back from Pacific U by now. Anyone have any information?

Just that when I emailed Jon, he sounded like it was a hard decision and that he was mostly leaning towards next week. They were meeting this week.

I just got a call from Pacific letting me know that I was accepted but apparently they are still in the process of making decisions 🙂

I got a call too! I could not be more happy! We should start a FB page for 2017 class.

Thanks 🙂 I interviewed on March 8th (I was invited to the Feb 8th interview but couldn't make it because of the snow). I have been lucky enough to get into some other great programs as well and so I'm not sure yet whether or not I will be attending Pacific but if I do then a Facebook page would be a great idea!

Oh good, glad to hear they are making decisions! I am looking forward to finding out either way-waiting is tough!! Hope to join you this fall!

Ah! Congratulations! That is wonderful news for you both. I still haven't heard anything..I feel like I might be losing my mind! I have way too much anticipation.

I just received a letter indicating that I'm waitlisted in Tier 2... at least the waiting is over. Congratulations to everyone who was accepted!

I just got the letter yesterday that I was accepted!! If you start a FB page I'd love to join!

Ok. Message me your name so I can find you on FB. To start a group I have to invite a friend, and you can be the first one! Others who are accepted just search for Pacific OTD Class 2017. I can't wait to meet all of you!!!

Finally some news! Congrats to all accepted! I am on Tier 1 of the wait list.....so close!! Does anyone have any insight on when waitlisted candidates are typically notified of positions open (or closed)? I am happy to know there is still a chance I might make it in this year!

Hello! I'm looking for the Pacific OTD facebook group and nothing is coming up? Have you created it yet or do you still need someone to message you?

I'm not sure when wait listed candidates will be notified, but we were asked to send in a deposit and a form regarding our decision by April 1st, so hopefully you'll hear some good news then!
