Hi, I paid deposits to two different schools to secure my spot. I have not decided which school to go to. I was wondering by when I should give one up. Thank you.

It's difficult to compare two non-isomeric compounds. Same holds true for your question.

There are too many variables to say getting into [x] program is harder than getting into MD/DO programs. These threads pop up all the time and the conclusions are nearly the same. Even if you start to look at the statistics - total seats per applicant - there are at least a dozen other factors to consider.

PA programs are difficult to enter, in their own right, just like DO programs are difficult to enter. However, they're two entirely different beasts.

Wrong thread 😉

Wrong thread 😉

too funny.

OP- you will probably get responses that include hurry up, just choose, or the like. many people are on waitlists and they could be waiting for their only acceptance. it is easy to look at the situation and think that you had better hurry so someone else can get accepted, but the real answer is take as long as you need. you aren't talking about deciding which color to paint your living room. it is a huge decision that you cannot change.

you aren't talking about deciding which color to paint your living room.

Have you seen how long it takes a wife to choose what color do paint a living room ?!?!?! 😱 God forbid you pick the wrong color! Hope you like staring at all those little paint chips of 'egg shell' white that all look the same, for literally years!!!!

I would say do your homework, but mulling it over for a month or two probably won't help. Do some research, visit the schools again if they're close by, but putting it off will just make your life horrible. By making a decision you can start looking for housing and getting excited for what is to come...before the actual horrible reality of being in med school comes into play. So I would suggest, having been in a similar situation last year, to make a decision and get on with your life. Do some adequate research, make a pro's and con's list, and just go with a school that'll make you happy, or the school that will make you happier.

Plus, I have to go there...think about those people who are on the waitlist who would give anything to get one of your spots. By holding out on a decision you are making their life difficult...so be real here...mulling it over for month's will do nothing...you are just putting off the inevitable and any reservations you have now, will still be there if you wait...so do your research NOW, and make a decision...your life will get dramatically better and less stressful...minus all of the stressful things you will have to get squared away with in terms of moving, housing, etc...but having time to properly deal with those things will make your next 4 years less stressful.

Plus you'll make someone's day who is on the waitlist. Bonus points**

Good luck with your decision!
What are the two schools if you wouldn't mind sharing!

Someone is waiting for the seat that you are holding. Decide quickly.
