Paid externships

I have a choice of going for observerships or paid externships. So I was wondering how PDs look upon hands-on externships obtained by IMGs through private organizations like IMG Prep, Ameri Clerkships etc.

These things cost a lot, like ~8k for 3 mo experience in some clinic/hospital etc. 🙁

Do PDs give such experiences more value than say observerships?
Or should I just go with the observership instead? 😕

Def do an externship. You get hands on clinical experience. Observerships you just watch and ask questions. Some programs under their requirements don't even count observerships as US clinical experience. Pay the money and get a lor out of it.
