Hi I'm a pre-pharm student and I was wondering what jobs can I get that I will get paid for that can look good for pharmacy school, specifically in the summer. I've been looking into the pharmacy trainee jobs but they aren't available anymore unless I need to expand my horizons. I live in the NOVA region

I recommend becoming a pharmacy technician and work at a local drugstore. It would be great if you can get in a mom n' pop, but if not, take the first chain store that hires you. Where I live, there is a program that allows people to work in pharmacies as pharm tech "candidates", in which you can earn your experience hours. If becoming a pharm tech will take too long, talk to store managers about becoming a pharmacy cashier. Explain to them your situation and why you are serious about gaining experience. Some retail stores like Walgreens will induct you into a program and pay for your training. This is what some of the people have done at the Walgreens that I work at. Of course, any work inside a pharmacy is considered pharmacy experience! If you can't get your tech license before you apply, that's OK! You'll still be able to put that experience on your PharmCAS.

Good luck Doc.
