Oh Dear God, how it hurts. I didn't realize how mentally out of shape one can get from not taking any "real" rotations for a couple of months, so that one may interview. ooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuchhhhhhhh!

Basically I filled the last three months with bull**** rotations consisting of Rads., online crap, etc. Today was day one of my Emergency medicine rotation. God do I miss interviewing and dinners.

Is this what you guys feel like when you start intern year? You know, after screwing around for a couple of months.
:beat:

YES

Damn. I guess I better get used to it then, cause after this I do a month of SICU, 2wks of Cardiology and I am DONE baby, done! Sitting on my ass for all of April, May, and most of June. I will probably be very mentally challenged come July 1 by the looks of things. 😳

Enjoy them three months 'cause they'll be the last extended free period you probably will have for the rest of your life - unless you lose your job, of course.

three months off!!! my school sucks! i have rotations through the end of april :-( then we have two weeks of senior week/graduation stuff/wasting our time....including graduation rehearsal....don't we pretty much just walk up there in alphabetical order...not sure i need to practice that....

Take that feeling and multiply it by 10. THAT is what starting intern year is like. I never thought that anything would make me miss my med school schedule. 5 more months....

Think of it as a head start on the rest of us slackers come july 1.

1. First find a world class soccer player.
2. Stand with ur feet a little wider than shoulder width.
3. Have before mentioned soccer player kick u square in ur junk.
4. Once you are done crying/vomiting/wishing u where dead/etc....you will have a taste of what July 1 2008 will feel like.👎

Amen to 5 months to go.

And I have to add a #5. Repeat kick to junk on July 2 - June 30th. Have soccer player wear steel toe boots Q4.

For all of you who are finishing in April/May and will already know your spots, I have a suggestion: go on a Contiki tour to Europe or Australia in late May or early June. Personally, I'd go to the Greek isles. It will be the best time of your life and something that you'll be able to look back upon during your intern year when you're getting the beat down. Don't even think about your forthcoming internship year. Just go have fun, and worry about what's going to come when it gets there. Seriously, as someone else said, just enjoy this last bit of truly free time you might ever have in the rest of your life.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely look into it. I can't wait for that break. I just want to be done, know where I am going, and have nothing to do but play.

Sage recommendation. I did the Contiki tour of western Turkey and the Greek isles right after undergrad. Istanbul. Pergamon. Mykonos. Santorini. Crete. Athens. Friggin awesome.

Thailand.

No you don't need to go to that street with the infamous ping-pong balls. There is much to see and do in that country which is entirely devoid of that. But, beware young jedi, beware.

Best food, great destinations, phat beaches, inexplicably cheap, insane temples, the locals don't treat you like dirt, and plenty of good folks to party with. Just go heavy on the deet, or the Thai whiskey. They are equivalent in terms of parasite repellent ability.

N' joy!

Just got off of my ED shift. Damned Pediatric "emergencies." I am now starting to feel like a total dumb ass for scheduling an ICU month as my next rotation. there is no way out of it now. I definitely need to change those last two weeks of cardo to some sort of bull****.

Seriously, I am going to need to be totally catotonic for two months, in order for me to ignore the pain of intern year. DAMNIT!👎thumbdown👎

Only 7 months in, is intern year not totally painful everyday, but still most days..And the sleep debt keeps building, so what is less painful through experience and tricks of the trade, becomes more so with zero sleep..

Great. Something to look forward to. Whatevs. I am not going to think about it until July 1. Till then, I will pull my head out of my ass long enough to finish my last month and a half of school. Then, PARTY TIME ALL THE TIME!:hardy::hardy::hardy::hardy::hardy:

6 more weeks of clinical rotations(gasem does a little dance)🙂😀🙂!

Still haven't decided where to vacay. The friends are KILLING me with their geriatric decision pace. Any suggestions on where one could take a short "intro" vacay by oneself, without spending an arm and a leg?
