There's a little excerpt in FA that says low flow = high Cl- and high flow = high HCO3-.

what is this even talking about? I just got a similar UW question on this and don't really understand. What is causing flow to be low or high and does Cl- exchange for HCO3 or something?

I just looked in Big Costanzo and it doesn't really explain it very well. The Cl-/HCO3- exchanger is involved. My interpretation is that, at low basal levels of pancreatic secretion, there is little stimulation to the anion exchanger, so the secretions are high in Cl-. But when secretions are high, Costanzo seems to be saying that the same stimulus that leads to high secretion (which that stimulus would be secretin) also stimulates activity of the anion exchanger, resulting in high HCO3- and low Cl- in pancreatic secretions.
