I'm interviewing at Touro-MI on Monday (2/5). I've never been to a panel interview so I was wondering if anyone had any pointers/advice/words of wisdom for me. I'm quite nervous!!!

Sorry I dont have any pointers, but goodluck !!

I dunno maybe make good eye contact with the other interviewers, and be yourself 🙂

Just interviewed there this tuesday! I hope it went well! Just be yourself!

The panel interview at MI wasn't bad. Be friendly with your fellow interviewees, show interest in what they're talking about, and when it's your turn, don't ramble on and on; say what you need to say and then pass the torch to the next person. Don't be nervous, it's low-stress!

I'll tell you what not to do. At one of my DO interviews, I was asked the common question, "how would you explain DNA to a five year old?"

Interviewers: How would you explain DNA to a five year old?
Me: Five years old? Well, I guess they may be a little too young for the "when two people love eachother and stand really close together, they can make a baby" speech, so I guess the transfer of DNA from parent to offspring is out the window.
Interviewers: (Unamused stare)
Me: Uh, well I guess I would take pictures of his relatives, like father and grandfather and explain that the resons that people in the family look alike is that they have a special compound in their body that is passed on. I guess this would be a problem if they were adoped, or didn't really look like thier parents. Uh...

This trainwreck continued on for about a minute. I did well with everything else, but that got a little awkward. Avoid anything outside of the realm of "safe" humor. Somehow they let me in.

I only know of one school that asks this question. If it's the one I'm thinking of, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! when did you find out?

Haha...sorry not PCOM (I wish). I am hoping to hear from them this upcoming week. I was suprised by the questions too, because PCOM was the only one that I had read that about.

I will post one of the longest, incoherent joyous rants of all time on SDN if I get into PCOM

pre-med Ned,

Good luck on your interview. Don't stress out over it! Dr. Haight is really nice and he'll walk you over what they expect of you: eye contact with everyone, solid logical responses, and listening skills. Overall they want to see that you can carry on a professional conversation in a professional manner.

I was nervous in the beginning but this quickly subsided.

Good Luck!
