paper acknowledgements

ok, if your name is not on a paper as an author, but you are thanked "acknowledged" for your help on the paper can you include it on your ERAS application or CV????

I was told no by my old PI. Only if you are an author should you put it down on your CV.

I would agree. Unless you have authored (in some way) the paper, it probably shouldnt be listed on your CV (No one could search for your name and find the publication).

I assume that you were acknowledged b/c you helped out in the lab or something. This can alway be listed under research/experiences on your CV.

Thanks, I just wasn't sure of the protocol. I did a ton of processing and analysis work for part of a paper, but didn't write it.

It's funny that you mentioned the search thing because that is exactly how I found out that I was acknowledged on two papers... which led to my current question. It's amazing what you find when you do a search on yourself 😉

Acknowledgments are nice in that the authors thought of you when they wrote the manuscript. But it's not worth noting on the CV. You need to be one of the authors to put it on the CV.
