Hey everyone,
Looking for feedback. Today I went and talked to someone who wrote me a LOR. I waived my right to see the letter and she has already submitted it to OTCAS as well as a few other schools. She printed me a copy as I was leaving for me to read and everything sounded great.... until the end. She mentioned excelling in any of the OTCAS programs. I'm now paranoid about the wording and wondering how this will affect the 4 non-OTCAS schools im applying to. Is this as big of a deal as I'm making it?Is there a way to edit a letter that's been submitted already? The non-OTCAS schools are NYU, Columbia, Pacific, and Seton Hall if that helps at all. I'm about a week away from submitting OTCAS apps (about a month from the others) and now I'm freaking out. HELP!

I doubt they will care. They will likely see it was her miswording, don’t stress over it!

Agreed with the above. I honestly think they won't care because the schools know that students are applying to a multitude of programs, and that inevitably many of them will be using OTCAS. If anything, the fact that you waived your right to see the letter helps a lot because they know that you trusted your evaluator to make an honest review of you. Sometimes that means there are small mistakes. As long as they get their main point across, the tiny details aren't so important.

One of my letter writers sent me a draft after he submitted, and he'd written something about doing great in any OT doctoral program. All except one of the schools I'm applying to is a master's program lol. I freaked out at first too, but I honestly think the overall quality of the letter and application are going to be far more important than a small mistake made by the letter writer. I really don't think it'll affect your chances at all 🙂

Thanks so much everyone! I would reply to you each individually but everyone said the same thing basically lol. I'm feeling the pressure of having everything be perfect but it's really nice to know other people think it isn't as big of a deal as it seemed at first and I'm feeling much more relaxed. Thanks for calming a fellow applicant down a tad 🙂

I relate entirely and have similar struggles! Honestly, I think that there's no such thing as a "perfect" application, and I think the reviewers take this into account. 🙂 We just have to do our best and hope that they look over any irrelevant details and marks!

After a few hours I was starting to feel less crazy about it and telling myself the same thing. It's not something I wrote and in theory I was supposed to not have access to read it in the first place and wouldn't know about any mistakes. So programs won't hold me to that. Thanks for the reassurance I'm digging all the support around here 🙂

No I haven't heard anything from them yet. Based on previous threads I've read through, they don't get back to people for a long time like end of March 🙁

The struggle is real with some of these spring decision schools, especially when you only have two weeks to give a fall/winter school a decision and a deposit. The application process is a true test of flexibility and patience.

And, might I add, finances.

That's very true I'm definitely feeling that way too. That's exactly why this program is not high on my list because I'm sure I'll be committed somewhere else before they even give me a decision
