I am a D1 in my first semester and already stressing out about boards, even though a bit premature. I am not a good standardized test taker and having this exam in the middle of my dental education is extremely stressful for me, as im sure it is for most D2s. Anyway I was wondering from people who have taken the exam once or more what strategy worked for you when studying? What types of things would you repeat if you had to take it over and what parts of your studying would you drop? Finally when did you start studying for it?

Thanks,

Sajitude

I haven't taken my boards yet but you can just take it anytime after 2010 when it is P/F. If you are anywhere near familiar with your stuff I can't imagine you can't get a P. And a P is all you are going to get anyways, as no numbers will be given.

So relax, enjoy life, and take things one step at a time.

or you can take them now. in reality the boards have always been pass/fail.

Hey

"Part 1 is designed in such a way that you can go take the exam on any given day (if you have conceptual understanding of the sciences)."
(/My mentor)

Do not worry... Try to understand the concepts and do not rely at all on your ability to memorize facts. Break down the concepts into smaller parts, it will be easier to digest then. Solving questions really reinforces the subject, so try to compliment your notes/books with questions/MCQs. It keeps your interest levels intact and keeps the boredom at bay. Make your own notes (well I do not recommend cut copy paste notes, rather try to make notes based on your understanding). I recommend multi-color highlighting (not random but systematic), I know some people find it strange, but it infact makes it easier for brain to perceive the information.

Apart from that, I suggest you to try to alternate your work schedule with fun... Go out on weekends, get laid every once in a while (optional; but higly recommended. Masturbation should not be your savior alone!!!:meanie: ), stay happy, pamper yourself on weekends, enjoy all your holidays and such. Go back to your books/notes/flash cards often.

I have some notes (.doc file; some 76 pages) that you might find helpful. Do not hesitate to ask for any help.

I will be happy to help.

Good Luck,
M.
