Hey guys I thought of arranging the forum a bit by making a thread for each section for NBDE part one.... so if any body got any questions or need help in or got new useful infromation wana share in Biochemistry writes here......... 🙂 hope that would make it easy for everybody planning to take part one soon .. (like me 😳 )

A.in addition to final product of metabolism carbondioxide is required as a substrate for ann enzyme that is assosiated with 1. biosynthesis of fatty acids from glycerol
2.biosynthesis of ribose 5 phosphate from glucose.
3.oxidation of acetyl coa by the citric acid cycle
4. generation of atp during mitochondrial oxidation of nadh

3........oxidation of acetyli co A by citric acid cycle

B.in which of the the following conditions is oxygen partial preasure low inn the arterial blood
1.anemia
2.polycythemia
3pulmonary av shunt
4 hypovolemia due to hemorrhage

3.pulmonary av shunt

i think its glycerol
it cannot be oxygen,water,oxygen............compared to ethanol and glycerine they are more permeable

now.i think glycerol is not permeable through membrane
if am not wrong sodium permeability will cause tetany?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essential_amino_acid

There are nine essential amino acid :
Phenylalanine , Valine , Tryptophan , Threonine , Isoleucine , Methionine ,
Histidine , Lysine and Leucine .
i thought it was 10:-
There are 10 essential amino acid :
Phenylalanine , Valine , Tryptophan , Threonine , Isoleucine , Methionine ,
Histidine ,Arginine, Lysine and Leucine .

Arginine and Histidine are considered essential only in infants, but they are essential

I remember it as " Pvt. Tim Hall"

Usually on baords the question is framed this way:-

All of the following are essentail amino acids in adults except:
1. arginine
2. isoleucine
3. leucine
4. methionine

The key here is in adults

Hope this helps.......

Glycerol is permeable, that is why it is the major stuff to study cell permeability rates.

Hence I would choose Na

thx for letting me know.................i didn't know that
Well, I did not know that myself......just googled for cell permeability rates and saw loads of papers for that.............sorry I did not mention that in the previous mail.
That was my gist @ "glycerol" others, can reconfirm and correct me if I am wrong/or confused(as always 🙂 about some thing 🙂

Thank You So Much Guys I Really Appreciate This. I Will Be Back With The Other Set Of Questions. Once Gain Thanks To Everybody.

hI GUYS,
THIS IS THE NEXT SET OF QUESTIONS
1. EACH OF THE FLLOWING POLYMERS IS CORRECTLY PAIRED WITH AN ACTIVATOR OF THE POLYMEREXCEPT ONE.WHICH ONE IS THE EXCEPTION?
A. SUCROSE- DEXTRAN
B.GLUCOSE-GLYCOGEN
C.SUCROSE-MUTAN
D.UDP GLU-GLYCOGEN
E.SUCROSE-LEVAN
I THINK C OR E I DONT KNOW PLEASE EXPLAIN
2.IN ADDITION TO BEING A FINAL PRODUCT OF METABOLISMCARBON DIOXIDE IS REQUIRED AS A SUBSTRATE FOR AN ENZYME THAT IS ASSOSIATED WITH
A.BIOSYNTHESIS OF FATTY ACIDS FROM ACETYLCOA
B.OXIDATION OF ACETYLCOA BY THE CITRIC ACID CYCLE.

3.FOR WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING PAIRS MORE LIKELY LOCATED ON THE SURFACE OF GLOBULAR PROTEIN THAN THE SECOND GROUP?
A.CH3 CH(CH2)2
B.CH3 CH2OH
I DONT UNDERSTAND THIS QUESTION IF ANYBODY COULD EXPLAIN
4. WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING BEST DESCRIBES GTP BINDING PROTEINS
A.THEY ARE TIGHTLY BOUND TO ADENYLATE CYCLASE
B.THEY ARE SELF INACTIVATING
5. WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING IS THE LEAAST EFECTIVE EMULSIFYING AGENT
A. LECITHIN
B. CHOLESTROL
6.SECTIONING OF THE HYPOTHALAMIC HYPOPHYSEAL STALK PRODUCES EACH OF THE FOLLOWING EFFECTS EXCEPT ONE
1. INFERTILITY
2 HYPERCALCEMIA
3. REDUCED BMR
4AROHY OF ADRENAL CORTEX PLEASE EXPLAIN

4AROHY OF ADRENAL CORTEX PLEASE EXPLAIN
2 A:- I think so, as co2 is used in fatty acid

Hi confused tooth,
Thank u so much for responding but in biosynthesis of fatty acids is co2 the final product as asked in the question?
Well, then neither is CO2 is used as a cource in TCA cycle................its the carbon atoms of, pyruvate that are used as a source in TCA cycle, isnt it

6.SECTIONING OF THE HYPOTHALAMIC HYPOPHYSEAL STALK PRODUCES EACH OF THE FOLLOWING EFFECTS EXCEPT ONE
1. INFERTILITY
2 HYPERCALCEMIA
3. REDUCED BMR
4AROHY OF ADRENAL CORTEX PLEASE EXPLAIN[/QUOTE]
I think it is 2.infertility due to lack of GnRH,Reduced BMR due to lack of Tnrh, and final one due to lack of CnRH
if i am not wrong

I think 2 is right, as Calcium level are regulated by parathyroid............same as your ans swetha 🙂

3.FOR WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING PAIRS MORE LIKELY LOCATED ON THE SURFACE OF GLOBULAR PROTEIN THAN THE SECOND GROUP?
A.CH3 CH(CH2)2
B.CH3 CH2O

I would go with A.............since globular protein is inert and more the number of caron atoms, more is the inertness ( in organic chemistry 😉

😕 , somebody PLEASE confirm with this.......

hey guys...i am starting dental school in the fall and at vcu we take boards part I after 1st year...i'm a little worried about biochem because we don't take that class in dental school since it's a requirement to have finished it in undergrad...do you think if i study the right materials i'll be ok without having taken the actual course in a while? thanx for any advice!😀
