I don't know what to do at this point. I'm heading into my Winter Quarter and I want to have a part-time job or have a research position at a lab. It would be lovely to work to help pay for tuition, but I feel like my resume would look much better with research. I couldn't find a hospital part-time job...closest I found to pre-med was autoclaving on campus. Maybe I'm not searching for jobs correctly? I'm using the school's site to find jobs so I think that's all that's available at this point. Should I take the part-time job or try to do research?

Thanks =D

I was actually in a similar position. I decided to so research instead because it was convenient and worked with my schedule. If you want to look for some jobs related to your degree try indeed.com. Hope this helps.

Why not both? At least in my university, if you negotiated a research thing with a PI, they often agreed to pay you and then switch to a for-credit option while you were actually in the process of writing up the paper/poster/thesis. I worked in an agricultural lab for three years. Very little novel research but a lot of hands-on field work and lab work. Got paid better than unskilled labor and was research on the resume as far as anyone was concerned.
That said, people overplay the importance of keeping things relevant to your medical goals. If you're tight for funds, you'll definitely need them while applying and putting down deposits later... so a job is pretty sensible. Really do what you enjoy, too. I have friends who live for research and it informed or changed their goals regarding medicine. I, on the other hand, really enjoy getting dirty and physically exhausted by my work. I also like earning money.
