Unable to secure prelim during SOAP. What should i do?

What is the likelihood that my program will find me a spot so I don't have to forfeit the position.

Considering its one of the top 5 academic institutions in the country, they should be able to figure something out, right?

This is very institution dependent. Now that match results are public, I would contact the radiology program you matched to and ask. Some places have the leverage to create and destroy extra gen surg or IM intern spots depending on funding available. I was in a similar situation when I matched, and I know it's super stressful. Deep breaths, and good luck!

Thanks for your message and words of encouragement. Do you know how long i have before im forced to give up the spot? Also, in your case was it solved right away or did it take time. Appreciate your answers

I’m sure you went down this path, but your med school doesn’t have unfilled prelim med or surg? Whatever the answer, contact where you matched asap. If you have trouble with your med school and where you matched, look outside med and surg to uncommon prelims like peds and ?? I’m sure there are others but I’ve only heard of peds.

You need to get a hold of the list of programs that still have open positions post-SOAP. This is in the NRMP internal site. Do it right now, before those spots are snatched up by all the IMGs who were not SOAP-eligible.

If funding isn't available and the applicant can't find a prelim, what happens then? What if the person is FMG on visa? Does that make it less likely?

And lets say they can't find anything, how long does the person have until they are forced to forfeit the position.
