Hello all,

I am about to begin my senior year of undergrad and will be preparing to apply to MD/PhD programs the coming June (2018). Since I am applying after my senior year, I will have almost a whole year free prior to entering any program. My hope is to participate in one of the many research-oriented PREP programs working in a research lab while applying to MD/PhD programs but, it looks like most of the programs would like you to participate prior to applying to any program as they offer you test prep courses. Anyone have experience doing a research program while applying to medical school, would the directors of the program be interested in someone like me since I do not perfectly fit their program schedule?

Thanks in advance,

You can definitely apply during your postbac. You just wont make use of the test prep.
Thanks for the reply, do you know if the directors of the post-bacc program are less likely to accept applicants in my position?

My sibling (who is an MS2 in an MD/PhD program) did this, so I don't think you'll have a problem. The school that held the PREP is actually where they ended up matriculating at! If you get network during the program, then I think you should be fine.
