I know that PAS stain indicates presence of glycoprotein which is present in t whippelii and can also be a marker for arylsulfatase, but what other main things come to mind when you hear PAS positive? thanks in advance!

It stains basement membrane, glycogen, mucins and mucopolysaccharides (various inclusions, bodies, granules and secretions composed of mucopolysaccharides or mucins).

Breast cytology: atypical cells, correlate with malignant histology
Fungi: stains fungal cell walls
Hematopathology: ALL, AML M5-M7
Kidney: routine evaluation of renal biopsies due to basement membrane staining; also useful to diagnose renal cell carcinoma
Liver: inclusions of alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency
Lung: pulmonary alveolar proteinosis
Muscle biopsies: glycogen
Pancreas: acinar cell carcinoma
Parotid glands: zymogen granules
Small intestine: Whipple’s disease
Testis: germ cell neoplasia
Tumors: adenocarcinoma of various sites (mucin)
