There is no prompt, so I'm assuming it's kind of like a letter of intent/personal statement. However, what kinds of things should I include in such an essay for GPR? I feel like those applying for specialties would have an easier time with this. How should I convey the message "I am passionate about general dentistry..."??😕

In my personal statement, I talked about 'why' I would be a better candidate rather than being passionate about general dentistry. You are a dentist because you are passionate about what you do.
This is what, I believe, that the program directors are looking for.
-Reliability
-Honesty
-Commitment and eagerness of doing a GPR
-Team work
-Hard work - not afraid to put in long hours and cite examples to prove your case.
-Innovative and proactive
-Skills - and it is OK to say that you are good in certain fields, and/or want to improve your skills in other fields.
-Peoples person
-Some leadership qualities - and that can go concurrently with being proactive.

In essence, your essay should somehow convey to the director that you have all those qualities and that would be a strong letter.

Well said. I would like to see some essays like this for the coming application season.

Same here!! If anyone has any sample essays or their own examples, I'd greatly appreciate taking a look!
