Pass/fail and pass/not pass

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hi Guys,

If you fail a pass/not pass course, does it impact your undergraduate GPA? It says on my schools page that a FAIL for a pass/fail counts as a 0.0.

I think I failed my volleyball course.. and I'm extremely worried.

Are these the same thing? Is a Pass/fail and pass/not pass essentially the same thing? Or do they differ because I'm taking an athletics course.

Why did you fail your volleyball class??
Could you not properly execute a volley?

If you tell me why you failed, I'll tell you if it impacts your gpa or not 😉
I missed too many days.
I think I missed 4 days, if you miss more you fail. Now, I'm just worried.

My chances for medical school are great now, right?

Pass/not pass and pass/fail both have binary outcomes so they are probably equivalent. This'll definitely hurt but I doubt a course worth just a few credit hours will change much in the long-term.

How many credit hours is the class? All of the pass/fail classes at my school were 1 credit hour but did not count towards gpa

Have a question about AMCAS? Read. The. AMCAS. Handbook.

Pass/Fail courses are not factored into AMCAS GPA. It will show up in the course listing as a fail in a pass/fail course, but you will not have a 0 factored into your AMCAS GPA. Consult your school to see what it will do to your school's GPA, but it doesn't matter what your school GPA is, as AMCAS calculates their own GPA. If you're just worried about your undergrad GPA, a 1 credit fail won't tank it too much.

I'd check your school policy.. I had a lot of 1 credit hour p/f classes that did not count towards my gpa.

If it does, it's not the end of the world. It won't be the thing to keep you out of med school, I promise you that. Maybe ask your professor if there is anything you can do to make up for missing class. A couple extra pick up volley ball games?

Damn. those thousands of hours shadowing your surgeons down the drain.

It would be better if you didn't post. If you find me "annoying" or think I create stupid threads, why don't you ignore me. I'm getting annoyed with your presence.

Pretty ironic considering your profile picture, and the vast majority of your thread consisting of you talking turkish.

No need to be so bitter, it was a funny joke ( atleast to me)

In the vast majority of my threads, I don't speak Turkish. I only spoke Turkish because another individual said something in Turkish. What's wrong with my profile picture? I didn't find it funny at all, and I might as well ignore you too.

You'll be fine. I didn't get where I am by showing up to my golf class...

I have a friend in my class who got a D the first time they took gen. chem.

I passed it. I have no more concerns. I wasn't aware that if you failed an athletics course it factors into your GPA.

Can't tell if this Turkishking guy is a troll or not
