Hey Guys,

Since you are all so good at answering questions and helping out, I thought I'd throw one more out there.

Right now I'm in my second year of undergrad and a psych major. This semester I'm taking two psych courses, chem, western civ, and Calc II. My only problem is with calc II. It usually takes me a lot longer than one semester to understand calc and I'm already feeling very behind and confused in the class. Here is my problem: I missed the drop deadline so my only other option is to change it to pass/fail rather than A-E grading. I think this would mean I am taking it as an elective credit. This wouldn't be so much of an issue if I hadn't already done that once with calc before. I took calc I my first semester last year and changed it to pass/fail. I passed it and then took it again second semester and understood it much better and got a B+. So here are my questions:

-Will it look bad to adcoms that I choose to pass/fail calc twice?
-If it does look bad, is it more important to take the class and possibly do badly or keep my gpa up?
-Do I really need calc II?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i think you should look at the schools you might be interested in applying to and see what their math reqs are. i'm pretty sure most schools require calc and/or stats, so i wouldn't take it P/F. a P is equivalent to a C- and above (i think?), and if you don't get a C- you're going to have to repeat it anyway.

I would advise you to change your strategy for hard classes. Instead of taking a class for credit, audit it or just sit in. It looks much better than taking a class P/F and then taking the exact same class for credit.

Thanks for the feedback. I do already have a stats course, so at this point, I've got calc 1 and a stats, which is why I'm not even sure if I need calc 2. So i guess here is another question: Say by the time I start applying I have a really solid GPA, the only thing wrong is two p/f calc classes. How much is that going to affect my chances?
