I'm not sure what to do about the organic chemistry class I'm taking this summer. I was literally like tossing and turning all night. I don’t really find it difficult at all but the test structure has been so frustrating like only 16 questions with multiple choice being worth 5 points each and having 6 choices. So we just had our last test and my projected grade in the course is a B (As calculated by the professor) If you do well on the final he bumps you up but given how they grade I don’t wanna bank on that or count on it considering I've thought I've done well on other tests and have not. It's 4 credits so I’m thinking I should Pass/fail and retake it but I don't know how that looks. I'm a post bacc, and already have some very mediocre grades from undergrad and don’t want anymore factored into my science GPA. I have found they are so hard to counteract/recover from. I like couldn’t sleep at all because I was like either my science GPA is gonna blow or I’m gonna need to withdraw which looks terrible but I forgot pass/fail was an option. The deadline is today 🙁

My school also does this thing where you can set your grade and if you get any lower than that you just get a Pass on your transcript. Could potentially do that and set it at like a B+.

I don't think a B in orgo is a big deal under any circumstance. Don't over think this, and just complete the class to the best of your ability

If it were me I'd take the B. It's orgo, you're a nontrad, people will get it. Just make sure you do well on bio chem.

IMO not worth it to have to retake, and maybe raise more questions than a B would.

Can you do pass/fail on pre-reqs? 😕

I'm 99% sure that you can't do P/F for med schools pre req courses. Also, don't give up - you still have tests right? Study hard and ace them. The class isn't over, the fat lady hasn't sung yet, and your grade in ochem still isn't undecided. Just do your best and see what happens.

I would retake it. I have heard of people appealing the grade threshold thing when they decided they didnt want to retake the course after earning lower than what they set their grade to. We just have the final left and my professor said I need an 80 on it for a B+, which I think is very doable! Still, I opted to do the threshold thing set at a B+ because I know when the time comes and I have to factor more credits of a "3.0" into my science GPA on AMCAS I'm going to be kicking myself.

Just practice A LOT....it's what I did to get A on Ochem 2.

I re-did all the book problems, practice tests, practice problem sets, ACS problem sets, and online homework. God it was so much work that was worth in the end. I got 98% in free response questions. Never felt so proud of myself
