I finished all my premed and major requirements and I'm just taking three random courses for nonmajor credits. I was wondering how bad it looks if I take one or two of them pass/fail. I've worked hard through my college career and I have a 3.8 GPA with a major in chemistry and minor is biology. I'm taking a biocultural anthropology class, scandinavian class, and another anthropology class about race class and sexuality. If I did end up taking two of these classes pass fail, my explanation during my med school interview would be that I wanted to enjoy myself for once instead of focusing so much on school. I know that's sort of a stupid explanation but I seriously worked my butt off. Also, I want to focus on studying for my MCAT's

Should be fine! I took a handful of classes P/F in undergrad (none of them prereqs or science courses). You have a strong GPA and you're finished with your prereqs so I say go for it, especially if it allows you to focus on the MCAT.

Premed neuroticism alert!

OP, as the above poster pointed out, you have a 3.8 GPA and are not taking any of your prereqs P/F. I think it's safe to say that you'll be fine in terms of your academic record. And for the record, no interviewer is really going to care why you took a senior spring semester elective or two P/F. We all remember those senioritis days. Good luck with your MCAT, and enjoy your last semester. 🙂
