I was just wondering from your personal experience, what percentage of your classmates had to drop out because of stress/academic struggle? Are there some that can handle D school but can't pass the boards? What do schools do to help struggling students?

Very few people fail out of dental school due to lack of ability and I have never heard of anyone not becoming a dentist because they could not pass the boards. Students who struggle tend to struggle due to language barriers or issues other than intellectual ability (i.e. outside influences). Most schools provide tutoring and remediation in order to help students complete the program. In some instances, a student may have to repeat a year. It isn't as bad as people make it seem on these boards...

In my experience the vast majority of people who had to repeat a year had to do with family/health problems.

what r u talkin about? you will have to repeat a year if there is somethin reallllly serious goin on in ur life. Dental school is a professorial school, as long as you do what is required, not ur best, you will be fine. Again, do what is required in the syllabus and you will be fine.
