I took the DAT on Saturday and got a 19 overall, but did really well on the PAT section (24). I was just wondering if any of you know how much dental schools care about the PAT, or is it something that no one really pays attention to? I would appreciate any insight that you might have!

hey, you should call the schools that you are applying to and ask. I think thats the advice that most people here will give you. In my opinon, the Total Science score is probably the most important. Some good schools place strong emphasis on PAT too and others dont care about the PAT. You really just have to call the schools and talk to them to find out what they look for. Hope that helps.

I somewhat disagree that the TS score is the most important. Don't forget that during the first two years of dental school you will be reading an immense amount of literature. The reading comprehension score indicates how fast, and how well, you read and retain information. So i believe that the AA score is more important, since it factors the reading comprehension score in it.

I also think TS is the most important score.

I think most schools (if not all) prefer TS=30, RC=20 over TS=20, RC = 30. People, with a strong science background, usually do much better. Einstein's native language wasn't English and he wasn't the fastest English reader but he was one of the most successful scientists. I know many people who can do the RC test in 50 min and get high 20s and even 30 but can't get 20+ or even 15+ for the sciences.

every score has it's importance. first off, 19 isn't a bad grade on your science. it shows that you know your material. and a 24 on PAT is excellent. it shows that you can visualize things in your head 3D. you are well on your way to becoming a dentist. good luck.
