To all the soon to be 4th years:

Congrats on just about finishing up 3/4 of school. Third year has been a bear for all of us in one form or another. Finish strong and enjoy the few weeks off before beginning our Sub-I's.

:horns:      :horns:

Congrats to all rising 4th-years as well. I am no where near ready to be an intern, but hopefully that's what 4th-year's all about.

One more day of 3rd year, Step 2, Sub-I...vacation, vacation, vacation!

Woohoo. 3rd year is over for me too. No more waking up at 5am to pre-round. No more sleeping in the call rooms waiting for the trauma pager to go off. No more contemplation about what I want to do with my life.

It's on to radiology for me 🙂

Congrats! 👍

I'm two weeks into my fourth year, and so far it is great. I'm glad all the core rotations are over and now I can just focus on doing rotations that I actually want to do!

I'm convinced that the trauma pager is the single most evil contraption in the entire hospital.

Congrats to everyone that has finished.

Jaded, sorry to hear you don't enjoy the trauma pager. The pagers I hate the most....hmmmm... this is a difficult one. O.K. since there is no clear front runner for the fields that I absolutely detest, I will declare a three way tie between OB/Peds/Medicine.

Good luck to everyone on choosing/applying residency. And remember to help the new JMS's as much as you can. We all know first hand how much they need it.

I came home today at 9:30a ending my 3rd year, my month-long surigcal sub-I, and 24 hours of trauma call. I feel damn good. Congrats to us all, may we survive aways, any pesky left-over cores, interviewing, and the Match!

(P.S. I'll take all of your trauma pagers 🙂 )

I hate the pagers that don't remind you that you should have passed it off at sign-out, that don't beep to remind you to take it off your scrub pants, that don't beep loud enough to warn you that they don't belong in the washing machine and then don't apologize to the team for you for having to replace itself and missing a nights worth of pages...

Man, I hate those kind of pagers...

I think the trauma pager conditioned me early and made it impossible to recover. The very first day I carried it, the thing went off 4 times. Pretty average for our center, but the timing was horrible. Once during lunch as I was just starting to eat. Right when I set foot into the cafeteria for dinner. Just after midnight when my resident told me to get some sleep. And for good measure, 30 minutes before the shift ended, which lead to a marathon case and being in the hospital late post-call.
