I have taken the DAT once and will be retaking in October. I was told to raise my PAT to get into my school of choice because it was not high enough. This was my fault as the first time around I just figured PAT was a natural thing and you couldn't really practice all that much (believe me I realize this couldn't be any farther from the truth as I have to retake 🙁) My previous scores were as follows

Bio 18
GC 19
OC 22
QR 16
RC 17
TS 19
AA 19
PAT 15 🙁

I plan on getting CDP and TS before I take my exam and obviously I will be emphasizing my studies to raise my PAT (well I guess I'm trying to raise all of them🙂). After practicing a little bit with the sections I took the practice test in Kaplan BB and got the estimated score of 20. Is this easier or harder than the DAT PAT section? (I know I have taken it but I do not remember that well.)

I would like for those of you who are gifted in the PAT to please post some tips here if you have found some consistent and successful way to complete any portion of the PAT. I really struggle with the pattern folding so I was wondering if someone could post some tricks for that. Do you fold into the paper? Out towards you? I'm just curious as to what tactics work for some of you PAT pounders. I read a tutorial by Sama which was awesome so Sama if you read this I would be more than willing to send you baked goods in return for some PAT blasting tips. Thanks guys, this forum is a lot of help.

pattern folding may seem very difficult at first..
ALWAYS fold into the paper..
i would start by cutting out patterns and learning how things fold together..this will help you a lot...do this for most of the basic shapes like cubes and such...do this until youre really comfortable, and then practice!
if you have kaplan online, they have a nice online tutorial on it as well

kaplaans Pat is way way too easy. When you start Crack you will seee how difficult the DAT pat really is. Kaplans is a good start but eventually you will need to master crack and get 20's there before you can do well.

For cubes i would write down the entire sctructure in columns, how many sides of each cube is painted. That way you do not have to go over the same structure a hundred times.

For holes, I would use symetry and I would also draw out a grid 4x4 and draw out the dots that would appear. You will find that this will help you alot.

The keyholes will come with practice as will the pattern development. The TFE was explained by Sama and for angles search for laptop and angles. Someone posted a laptop method as well as a hill method for amgles. I dont know if they help but supposedly people say they were good techniques.

yes thanks to Sama I am pretty comfortable with TFE. The cube counting I usually do not miss any either. I am not that great at keyholes. This is very frustrating because I feel like me getting into D-school is based on how well I do on the PAT section. Boy will my be heart be pounding when I'm on the PAT section when I retake!!

Topscores is a waste for the PAT, same test 3 times over. CDP is awesome, your score will def. improve. Achiever's PAT is wicked hard

i just really need some tips on the pattern folding...something consistent so i can go about it methodically every time. klutzy I'm noticing you killed your PAT, got any tips for pattern folding??

Practice, until you can visualize the folds, which btw always go into the page. CDP over and over and over again until you udestand why every answer is either what you have or not. The key is to be able to visualize every question.
