So I have started using CDP and I have done 4 test not timed. My scores have been 17,17,19,18. The worst part for me is Pattern folding, then TFE, then angles. I do O.K. on cubes unless there is an optical illusion, which I hope there are none on the real exam. I finish a test and literally have a headache. Did any of you experience this when you started CDP?

I usually do well on keyholes. I read the thread about TFE on here that the guy did a really good job explaining. The answers make sense after I see what the thing looks like. Is there any other technique I should try that has worked for others?

Pattern folding: I have trouble with the shaded shapes that fold up and look like a washing machine that resembles a dalmation, the cubes with lines, and some of the really odd shapes. I do ok with the dice for some weird reason. Any suggestions?

Angles: I try the riding your bike down the hill technique and I feel that it works alright when I am doing practice problems but on the CDP test most of the angles I am missing are 3 degrees apart.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Did any of you have this much trouble with CDP? My test is Aug 7th.

You need to practice a lot! Stay away from doing full length practice tests until you have the 3 major sections down pat, Cube Counting,Angles,Hole Punch. Once you have those three down, then tackle the other ones by doing just that subsection of the test. The visual explanations helped me a lot with pattern folding and top front end. I was always inconsistent with angles and that never changed. I just did well in the other sections to offset my mediocre angle section.

Also I had no optical illusions on the real DAT, they are very straight forward but still somewhat tricky.

How did you do on the DAT compared to CDP? So I should do keyhole, pattern folding, and cube counting until I get it down good then move on to pattern folding and TFE?

just keep on practicing. i started off the same way as you and the past 2 CDP tests i took i scored a 25 both times. by the way, you should search for "wicked sick pat tutorial" on this forum (extremely helpful)
