Just took my first PAT exam on bootcamp and got an 18.. the hardest part was TFE and angle ranking... I need to improve the 18 although I think it was good for the first one. Any tips?

I try to work all 6 generators into my study schedule every day. I've backed off a little bit, but that's what I did until I was getting 14/15 or 15/15 on every section (except angle ranking...good luck with that one).

In the explanations after you finish a test on BC it will show you where you went wrong. By looking at the exam with the answers, you can see where/how you need to start looking at the shapes to know how they fold

this is true. there is some skill to it, but the best advice that i have received is to not spend too much time with the angle ranking.

Time. Spread out the practicing over long periods of time and you get better. I tried cramming the PAT by doing my first pattern folding and keyhole problem 2 weeks before the test and I felt pretty scared of the PAT going in. I raised my scores to like 19, 20 before my DAT and scored a 21 on about 2 weeks of PAT practice. Would not recommend. Do them over a long period I think it can become second nature.

So you practiced by taking the pat exams or just doing generators?

first off, my initial PAT scores on bootcamp were 18. Bootcamp PAT is very hard (but prepares you very well for real PAT). So you are fine!
Review the questions you got wrong. Also keep doing the bootcamp PAT generators.
I also suggest you get crack the dat and do those tests on top of the bootcamp tests (DO BOTH)

Okay thank you so much!

Pretend that one side of the angle is the ground.(This may require you to mentally rotate the angle slightly, or just tilt your head, depending on how the angle is rotated on the screen.) Next, imagine that the other side of the angle is a hill. Finally, imagine that you are looking at this hill and trying to decide if it would be safe to ride your bike down it. For all acute angles (less than 90 degrees), the safest hill to ride down would the smallest angle. This is because the slope is not as steep. However, a steep slope (larger angle) would be scarier to ride down. Make sure you are riding down the outside part of acute angles and not on the inside, which would require you to be upside down on your bike!

For obtuse angles (greater than 90 degrees), ride down the hill on the inside of the angle. This time, the safest hill to ride down will correlate to the largest angle. This would be the closest to 180 degrees, or the closest to having no slope at all. The scariest hill to ride down would be the one with the steepest slope. For obtuse angles, the steepest hill correlates to the smallest angle. At worst (think of a 91 degree angle), this would be like riding your bike down a near-vertical slope.

This works for me. But again, ****s hard.
