Hi.
Would someone please tell me what is "paternal externalizing disorder"

Never heard of it but my guess is that it's another DSM term that has been constructed to distinctly pathologize what psychoanalysis has written about for 100 yrs. Sounds like simple projection of needs and wishes for an introject to me.

Yes: It's the answer to your homework question, right?*

Note also that "paternal" is an anagram for "parental," which is probably what said homework assignment or take home final exam question actually asks for.

*First time poster + terse "what does X mean?" post = undergrad on the prowl for answers.

Never heard of it and almost positive it is not in the DSM as a diagnosis at all. It actually sounds like just a phrase that refers to someone's father's externalizing disorder.

All over the world people are just trying to guess...........

Your guess is wrong!

Have a look around and you'll see. This a board is for students and professionals (Doctors) to kick around ideas that are relevant to the field. Also, questions/discussions about contemporary issues facing the profession such as clinical issues, research findings, training, jobs maket, licensing, grad school admissions, etc. Not really a homework board Q&A forum, aight? But, if you read alot of threads, you can probably learn alot about the field!

Think of it this way: you said you majored/are majoring in a computer-related field, right? If I went to a computer hardware/software forum and, after reading through some source code, asked what every other term/argument/call/command/etc. meant, the posters at said forum would probably saying something along the lines of, "go buy C++ for Dummies and start there" and be done with it.

This is a similar situation. Reading more on your own in the topic areas that interest you is the best way to gather the information for which you're looking. You obviously have somewhere that you're getting these articles from in the first place, so try searching for more articles on the same topic. As I mentioned in a different thread of yours, often the introductions to these papers will do a great job of defining the terms used, and the references they cite can give you great ideas of where to look next for more information.

It's when you try to make your dad live outside, but he doesn't want to, but you make him anyway until he calls the cops.
