Pathologist doing 1500+ autopsies per yr.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Wow. 1500 x $550 = $825,000. And that's not including payments for court appearances and ancillary studies. Sure, he probably has to employ a small army of dieners, and bribe judges here and there to keep the whole scheme afloat, but I think LA owes some folks an apology for saying that there's no money in FP!

Oh, there's money to be made, but it's akin to saying there's money in playing basketball or writing a novel.

i know people focus on the money but $ 550 for an autopsy isnt that much considering the overhead

more disturbing--if true is the implication that he provides biased information

yuck

1800 Autopsies a year is impossible...IMPOSSIBLE. Without assistance he is doing what? 240 workdays in a year, 15 or so government mandated holidays.
1800/225 assuming he takes NO vacation is 8 per day.

Ninja FP grandmasters can maybe do 4.

Now you can see why FP is so f-ked. To make money you have to do several hundred a year. To do several hundred a year invites alot of scrunity.

I hope he quits. I hope there isnt a SINGLE FP IN THE WHOLE GOD FORSAKEN STATE. I hope the people of Miss. rise in a chorus of lamentation and weeping when their criminal justice system falls apart I can hear it all the way from California. I hope dead bodies rot in the streets of Jackson. Then if they want they can offer 20,000 acres, a mansion and village of virgins and MAYBE Ill consider going there.

Hopefully people will start to realize the system has flaws. No one wants to practice there. Why would you? It is HELL. I would rather do a tour in Iraq, because at least there you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. A FP in Miss? For me that somewhere between the 7th and 8th level of the Nine Hells.

All I have to say is that least one guy is willing to play Constantine.

I wouldn't underestimate how many autopsies people are capable of doing in a day. Especially when there is help from assistants.

rare that LA and i agree, but i'm with him on this one. there is no amount of money that could ever get me to live in that backwoods swamp between alabama and louisiana. and what the heck is wrong with the legislature in that state to allow such a convoluted system to continue to exist? any chance we could make a trade with the canadians - mississippi for british columbia? we could market the state as a winter vacation resort.

to average more than 2 autopsies a day over the course of a year seems overwhelming, let alone as many as this guy claims to be doing. even with crazy help from dieners, what about reviewing the histology from the previous day's cases? what about dictating? time spent in court? the math just doesn't add up.
