Hi,

So, on reading this forum the consensus with regards to pathology seems to be to choose either Pathoma or Rapid Review Pathology.

I like video lectures to go with the study, so I'm going to use Pathoma, but is the textbook RR Pathology better than the one that goes with the Pathoma-course?

If so, would it be a good idea to use the RR Pathology book instead of the Pathoma-book to go with the Pathoma-videos?

I can't imagine this would be a good idea. I'm currently in the middle of pathoma right now and they videos line with the text. Dr. Sattar goes through it like you have the textbook in front of you. I'm sure you could do it if you want but I fail to see the point in it. Pathoma is a great book/course that covers pretty much everything path-wise for USMLE, just stick with that.

I've been using RR Path to follow the Pathoma videos and it's going pretty well -- most of the stuff in the videos is also mentioned in RR. I just like RR better than the Pathoma book because RR has a lot of extra info not found in Pathoma. The only thing is that the order of topics sometimes varies, so sometimes you have to spend some time finding the topic in RR Path.

I've been using the RR book to go along with the pathoma videos, and its awesome. There are a lot of times where you will have to flip a few pages back and forth to get to the corresponding section in the RR book, but overall it's absolutely a good idea. I remember annotating a few of Dr. Sattar's diagrams and explanations from pathoma into RR, and at the same time there is bound to be some stuff in RR that wasn't covered in the pathoma videos.
So, I say do it. You get the best of both worlds

Thanks for the extra input. My thoughts also were, that I by doing it this way will get the best of both. I'm glad to hear that they supplement each other nicely, as I hoped, and that it has been tried out.
