EDIT: I felt it was necessary to remove the celebratory smilies due to that fact that my 1K post was bushwacked buy an emu. I suppose emu's are a little better camouflaged that your typical genie-in-a-box. 🙄

Gilly suit??!! Dang, now I'm getting nervous, sounds like that Emu is in someone's crosshairs (now how the heck do you know what a gilly suit is???!!!).

Wook

PS I would guess a smooch from an emu would be just a little peck on the cheeck (I couldn't resist)

I assure you the gilly suit will only be used in the pursuit of claiming monumental post counts.

Eeek...I feel loved 🙂.

Feeling much better, thank you. The sinus infection should set in any day now!!

Here's a question for you guys out there. When a cute girl walks by you and you clearly check her out (so hard that you almost break your neck AND fall out of your chair trying to do so) and she smiles back at you, WHY on earth don't you get out of your damn chair and introduce yourself.

I really would much rather meet men in a bookstore than a bar, but they seem to need their liquid courage (or beer goggles?!?! <---hope that's not it).

Fear of rejection. Most men are cowards at heart but are loathe to admit it.

By the way it's a Ghili suit (or Ghillie suit depending on the source you look at). 😉

Let me take a stab as a married XY fetus 🙂 I check chicks out all the time, often with my wifes opinion interjected. Surely I think there are more "fine" or attractive women than she does but if a lady is that smoking I guess I might break my neck.

Since I have so much to say let me +pad+..

Socute, often times you have to give the "signal", I know you mentioned you smiled. When i was single (oh so long ago) if a girl smiled I looked for little cues to let me know she might be receptive, for me a girl would smile and kind of look down. That was the money sign.

In general people in medicine are nerds at heart (this was discovered by a large group of us during M1). Therefore the social interactions are often weird. I do have to admit that EM people are cooler than other specialties but that could be just my own biased opinion.

I know the dude in the bookstore might not have been a md student but in the end most men deathly fear rejection from a woman, especially a girl who is "socute" and on her way to being an MD.

For the gents, when I lived in Atlanta I was single those were some of the most receptive women I have ever met especially after growing up in Miami where rejection could come swiftly and embarassingly. Of course the rewards were great in Miami.

Thanks EF 🙂. I lived in the South for six years, but grew up and am currently living in Yankeeland - it is different!!!

oops 😳

I have to agree with everyone above, most men are cowards and fear rejection. In hindsight, what's the big deal, so she says no (It can be worse that just a no though). Now that I'm married I find it much easier to talk to women, get to know them, and make friends. I presume, because I'm no longer burdened by having to find a mate, that I have gotten rid of some mental block.

A tagent to the whole talking to girls thing. Anybody take sadistic pleasure out of tormenting (maybe not the best word) their young male relatives, brothers, and sons about girls? 😛 :meanie:

My son, age eight, at the mere mention of a girls, gets all "gummed up" and can barely get a word out in his defense. poor kid.

Now in defense of me, I don't get on my boys case too much. After all I don't want to give him a complex.

Is that the discovery that got you nominated for the Ig-Nobel Prize? Sorry to hear you lost out to fake dog testicles. :meanie: :meanie:

PW(pre-wife) a friend told me that you miss 100% of the shots you dont take. Applying this to women def gave me a little more courage. It is def easier to make friends with women once you are married because there isnt that little game that inevitably happens between men and women. I am a believer that there is always an attraction between male and female friends. This attraction might not even be known to one of the 2 people.

As Jambi said, once you have your partner you can sit back around women (or men) and just be yourself because who cares what anyone thinks since you have someone you love at home. (For the record I have always been this way, you shouldnt change who you are for someone else) I think many people act differently when they are with someone new.

Let me tell you! I thought we had that thing won.. They got one of those dog psychologists to say it helps their "self esteem"

I mean imagine how low your self esteem would be if you walked around all day hoping and praying to sniff butts and dry urine. ha! :meanie:

I cant believe we finished in 2nd!

Domestic companies are really starting to go crazy with the retro cars nowadays! Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not complaining! 😎

Yeah I think we like the old style. I dont know if you are familiar, but there is a US car company (a small one) where all their cars look like retro rides. IMO this is better than the space age BS we dealt with a few years ago. I really like the new mustang as well. I guess the domestics are aware that their market share is slipping because their designs have been so incredibly boring.
